The 2020 EPL odds still have Man City as a heavy 1/2 favorite to win its third straight title according to MyTopSportsbooks.com. The latest transfer rumors about Man United potentially singing Paulo Dybala from Juventus have not moved the needle for the Red Devils, as it would likely coincide with the loss of Romelu Lukaku. With Eden Hazard leaving Chelsea this offseason, City is all but assured to enter next season with the strongest team on paper and the most proven team on the pitch.
The 2018/19 season went down the wires with Manchester City piping out Liverpool in the title race. We also witnessed the fluctuating runs both Arsenal and Manchester United endured, eventually failing to qualify for the top 4 of the table. Not to mention the Wolves’ fairytale run, which looked more or less similar to Leicester City’s historic campaign in 2015/16.
What does the 2019/20 season hold for us? As far as the transfer window is concerned, from the big clubs to the minnows, everybody is making their presence felt as they are determined to push their limits, which looks a clear sign of a roller-coaster season is looming.
Here are my predictions for the top 4.
Many may argue that the Cityzens aren’t the active side in the current side but, why such need when they have an unbreachable squad with a top-class tactician Pep Guardiola at their disposal.
Furthermore, Players like Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus are in top form as they had savoured the trophies with their respective nations. The addition of Rodri, City’s only big-spending, has also put the icing on the cake.
Guardiola has also had enough with the victories in pre-season, this time experimenting without the first-team players. That being said, Cityzens’ reign would continue in the upcoming season.
The Reds’ weren’t the complete squad as Guardiola’s side yet they clinched the Champions League title the last term. Props to Jurgen Klopp and the Reds’ forwards and the defenders.
The lack of inspiration from the midfield turned out to be a let-down for the German manager. Whilst the Mersey side is yet to reinforce their midfield counterpart, they would suffer the same fate as they had in the previous season.
The inclusion of Unai Emery and the impressive run he had in the starting half of the season was only flattering to deceive as Gunners ended with no silverware despite reaching the Europa League finals.
Now with the addition of Dani Ceballos and the highly-rated Nicolas Pepe, who would form an electrifying trio with fellow stars Aubameyang and Lacazette, Gunners would tend to make a statement this term.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a leaf out of Emery’s book last term, which means the Norwegian had a change of fortunes despite an impressive start.
However, Old Trafford faithful have bought into the Norwegian’s ideology of making room for the youngsters. Having already added two exciting youngsters namely Aaron Wan Bissaka and Daniel James, followed by a brilliant run in the friendlies, Solskjaer would certainly aim a top-4 finish. Not to mention, the pursuit of Dybala is still on the table.
