A feisty encounter looks set on the cards as Germany take on USA in what promises to be a master against protege on the sidelines. Joachim Loew was the assistant of the now USA team coach Jurgen Klinsmann back in the 2006 World Cup when the Die Maannschaft lost to eventual Champions Italy in the semi finals of that edition in Deutschland. The Germans top group G after having brushed aside Portugal but their weakness at the back were exposed by a very physical Ghana side. Can Klinsmann’s boys upset the odds or will the Germans show their former coach the stars? We here at Soccersouls provide our readers with Germany’s strongest line up in their last group encounter.
Goalkeeping: Manuel Neuer wasn’t at fault for either of the Ghana goals but the Bayern Munich shot stopper almost had a moment of embarrassment with a wobble when he spurned a routine ball distribution. Klinsmann’s side however are expected to attack the Germans with a lot of more vigor, intent and a lot more poise on the ball. The German number one has to be on his toes for the encounter and ensure his side see away their former coach to win the group and qualify for the knockout stages.
Mats HummelsDefense: The German defense was exposed by an imposing physical style and the US side will be expected to follow similar terms to attack the back line. Mats Hummels will partner with Per Mertesacker in the heart of the defense who have to sharp and keep a close eye on the two US forwards who with their intelligent movements off the ball can cause trouble. Jerome Boateng should start in the right back slot while Benedikt Howedes should man the other flank out wide on the left.

Midfield: Bastian Schweinsteiger is expected to take the field for his first start alongside club team, mates Toni Kroos and the immensely versatile Phillip Lahm alongside him on either sides. Arsenal star Mesut Ozil should start on the wide drafting in a more central number ten role as the Germans will look to mount attacks by having lots of possession in the middle of the park. With the USA playing a 4-3-3 diamond, Loew’s side will effectively look to control the tempo of the game by controlling the midfield looking to hit their opponents with pace.
Strikeforce: Against a tough USA backline, Muller will be expected to revert in number nine role while Gotze will most probably start outside in the wings. Both the players will swap positions during the course of the game. Miroslav Klose might come on from the bench again as the Lazio striker will look to now emulate Ronaldo’s record to become the highest goalscorer in World Cup history.
