Poor Davies, Disappointing Schneiderlin – The Best Of Reactions From Twitter And Everton Player Ratings

Full Time: Arsenal 3-1 Everton

Everton ended their Premier League campaign with a 3-1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. They finish the season in the seventh position in the table.

The Toffees were pegged back early through Hector Bellerin’s strike before Alexis Sanchez made it 2-0. They did manage to bounce back through Romelu Lukaku’s penalty in the 58th minute. However, the second goal never came for Everton and Aaron Ramsey made it 3-1 late in the game to ensure three points for Arsenal.

Everton Player Ratings

Joel Robles – 7/10

None of the goals were his fault and he made several good stops in the second period to keep his side in the game.

Mason Holgate – 6/10

Offered a good outlet down the right-side but it is his crossing that let him down on the day.

Ashley Williams – 5/10

Booked for hauling down Alexis Sanchez in the first period and could have easily seen a second yellow after his foul on Danny Welbeck.

Phil Jagielka – 5/10

Struggled against the pace and movement of Sanchez. Booked for hacking the Chilean down in the first period.

Leighton Baines – 6.5/10

Looked like the only player switched on for the Toffees. Good runs, good crosses into the box. Booked for a foul on Granit Xhaka.

Morgan Schneiderlin – 5/10

Left his centre-backs isolated more often than not. Booked and lucky not to have seen a second yellow.

Tom Davies – 4/10

It was his poor clearance that allowed Arsenal to score the first. Looked scratchy and was hauled off in the 26th minute.

Idrissa Gueye – 5/10

Had a great shot from distance saved by Petr Cech. The effort was there, but the quality wasn’t. Taken off at half time.

Kevin Mirallas – 5/10

Poor. Wasteful for most of the times and anonymous for the rest. Needs to do more for the team in the final third.

Romelu Lukaku – 6/10

Made no mistake from the penalty spot, but lacked the clinical touch when he had the opportunities from open play. Does not look like a £100 million player at all.

Enner Valencia – 6/10

Was the Toffees’ biggest threat with his pace and directness in the final third. Had a goal ruled out for a foul.

Substitutes

Ross Barkley – 6/10

Came on for Davies in the first period. A few glimpses of his abilities, but could not influence the game as his manager would have liked him to. Could be his last appearance for Everton.

Gareth Barry – 6/10

Replaced Gueye at half-time. Strengthened the visitors in the middle of the park. Steady influence.

Arouna Kone – NA

Replaced Valencia with less than five minutes to spare.
