It has been confirmed that Tottenham’s English winger Andros Townsend will be ruled out for the World Cup as he has to undergo an ankle surgery.
“Following further examination and consultation, Andros Townsend is to undergo surgery on his left ankle after damaging ligaments during our fixture against Stoke City last Saturday,” a club statement read.
“The injury is likely to sideline the young winger for up to 10 weeks.”
Following the news, Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny posted a photo on his official facebook account with the message,
Really feel for Andros Townsend. He was one of Englands best players in the qualifiers and deserved to go to Brazil. Get well well soon mate!
And to people who think that Szczesny meant it in a right way, please think about the selfie that Szczesny took after the Spurs game at White Hart lane and the subsequent comments from Townsend.
The spurs winger tweeted, ‘Who thinks we will see another selfie from him after today’s game?’ right after Arsenal’s drubbing against Chelsea. And it looks like Szczesny has used this opportunity to either show an act of humility or taking a little jibe at the Spurs player.
