Predicted AC Milan Line-up To Face Udinese In Serie A

After their thumping 5-1 win against Austria Wien in the midweek Europa League game, AC Milan is back to play in the Serie A this weekend as they host Udinese at San Siro. The 7-time Champions League winners will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing 4-1 loss at the hands of Lazio last weekend and are expected to field their strongest possible line-up in the home game.

Udinese, on the other hand, have made a slow start to their campaign but had a solid 1-0 win at home against Genoa last weekend. They will be looking to at least nick a point from Milan.

This is how Milan might line up on Sunday:

Formation: 3-4-2-1

Manager: Vincenzo Montella

Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Donnarumma

Donnarumma has featured in all 4 of Milan’s matches this season but has failed to live up to his full potential so far. Montella will be hoping that the Italian shows his true class in the big game versus Udinese, as his performance behind the backline will be critical in deciding the outcome.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

Centre-backs: Mateo Musacchio, Leonardo Bonucci and Alessio Romagnoli

The Milan defence was picked apart with relative ease by a Lazio side that was set up to score from the counter-attack, but a lot has changed since then. They looked a lot more sturdy at the back with a 3-man line instead of the usual 4, in the game in Austria. Montella will be hoping that Bonucci, who played as a part of a 3-man defence in Juventus as well, can guide the two youngsters and not make too many mistakes during the game.

Right Wingback: Davide Calabria

Calabria was slotted in the wingback position in the last game as well, and he did quite a decent job there. However, Udinese are likely to test the 20-year-old’s ability far more seriously than Austria Wien did.

Left Wingback: Ricardo Rodríguez

One of the numerous stars that Milan bought this summer, Ricardo Rodriguez is likely to be the experimental left wingback in Montella’s new formation and he will look to excel in his new position. The former Wolfsburg man was not only brilliant in that role against Wien but also managed to get his name on the scoresheet.

Hakan Calhanoglu

Central midfield: Franck Kessié and Lucas Biglia

Kessie and Biglia can form the perfect central midfield partnership for Milan this season, with Ivory Coast youngster capable of producing the odd moment of magic, while the Argentinian keeps it organised and sits nicely in front of the back three to thwart counter-attacks. Their performance against Udinese will go a long way in determining whether they can be used more frequently this season or not.

Attacking Midfield: Suso and Hakan Calhanoglu

Suso has been in scintillating form for Milan this season, scoring 3 goals and setting up 2 more in just 4 appearances for the Rossoneri. He will be eager to continue in the same verve for them, but Calhanoglu is yet to hit the ground running. The Turkish international did score in his last outing though, so he will be looking to build on from there.

Suso

Striker: Patrick Cutrone

With 3 goals in his last 4 games, Cutrone is the youngster that everyone is talking about right now in Italy and he will be eager to justify the hype around him by putting in a good shift against the Zebrette. Andre Silva maybe rested for the game, so it would be a great opportunity for him and he must grab it with both hands.
