Why Sandro Ramirez Will Start Scoring Regularly Sooner Rather Than Later

Ronald Koeman’s Everton will look to bounce back after a disastrous showing in their first game of the Europa League group stage earlier this week. The Toffees spent loads of money on incoming transfers and though most of that amount was from the sale of Romelu Lukaku, they are yet to find an able replacement for the Belgian.

The likes of Davy Klaassen, Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson were all expected to add goals to the Everton lineup and neither of them have shown enough promise. One such player, who is yet to settle in at the Goodison Park is Spanish attacker Sandro Ramirez.

A product of the La Masia academy at Barcelona, Ramirez failed to establish himself in the first team at Camp Nou and was sent to Malaga at the start of the previous season. His return of 14 goals and 5 assists in 30 La Liga appearances saw him turn into a wanted man in England and Everton managed to snap him up long before the deadline day.

Known for his strength in hold-up play and accuracy in his shots even from long distances, the 22-year old is a genuine goal-scorer and will not stay out of form for long. He keeps his game simple. He loves to have the ball at his feet to turn defenders in the final third while is also more than capable of applying himself as a target man.

He runs the lines and is an intelligent attacker, while his ability in the air is tailor-made for the English game. At such a young age, he has already been exposed to the highest level of football in his career and is one of the most talented players in a star-studded Everton squad.

He is yet to score a single goal for the Blues in his 6 appearances across all competitions and could very well lose Koeman’s trust. The manager will need to change things if Everton are to get some points on the board and Ramirez, at the moment, does not seem like a safe bet.

However, given his attributes and hunger for goals, his first few games should be seen as a ‘settling-in period’ and it is absolutely important that the new club stay behind him in his new endeavour.

He is easily one of the most exciting players in his position at the moment in Europe and will not take too long to settle in. So Everton should stick with him in the starting lineup, give him enough confidence to express himself if they are to get the best out of him. If they can do so, surely, Ramirez is going to start banging in goals, not too long later.
