One Of These Three Wingers Would Complete Arsenal’s Attacking Line-up

Share

As I write this, Arsenal are yet to welcome Manchester United at home, which promises to be one of the most significant games of this interesting Premier League campaign. The Gunners had their sails knocked off by Liverpool last week when they were torn apart by a 5-1 margin and their wing play on either flanks looking very ordinary. Given Theo Walcott’s injury, Lukas Podolski’s lack of match fitness and Oxlade Chamberlain’s lack of experience it is on the wings which Arsene Wenger needs to chalk out in the summer. Even though a lot remains to materialise in the coming months, we here at Soccersouls decided to go on some early scouting and provide our readers with three names The Gunners can target come May.

Adam Johnson:

We start our list with Premier League’s player of the month for January- Sunderland’s Adam Johnson. Ever since Gus Poyet has taken over at the Black Cats, the former Manchester City man has been in the thick of things behind The Black Cats’ revival and resurgence from bottom to currently lie 17th in the table. A natural instinct to go past defenders and the willingness to run the extra mile comes naturally to Johnson and is equally adept at taking set pieces and barging inside from the wings. He also has a calm brain under pressure and reads the game very well and possess a belter of a let foot which Arsenal would love to have in their squad for the next season.

Pedro:

Going by names, this will certainly not be an easy fish to catch as Pedro has had significant impact at Barcelona this season. But with Neymar and Alexis Sanchez in red hot form, the Spaniard is having limited game time at the Nou Camp. He is versatile enough to play either side on wings and has to knack to score goals when your team requires the most.  If reports in major tabloids are to be believed both Arsenal and Liverpool were rumoured to be interested in the winger and Pedro has admitted that he will evaluate his future at end of this season.

He has got good pace, dribbling and finishing skills, meaning he will strengthen any top side he joins. With Theo Walcott missing the world cup and perhaps the early part of the next season, Pedro will possibly be Arsene Wenger’s realistic transfer target for the summer.

Angel Di Maria:

So does our list end with fantasy or fiction? We’ll have to wait till the summer to know the answer.

Since the arrival of Gareth Bale, things have not been on the lighter side for the Argentine Winger. However, despite after all the rumours about his possible Winter exit from the club, he stayed at Madrid and has made use of the opportunities that were presented in front of him. He would certainly add a different sense of threat to Arsenal’s attacking abilities.

The winger has a majestic left foot, is brilliant on the ball, his distribution is immaculate too and also can shoot from long range. Arsenal could rightly go after him and as far as accommodating him is concerned, Wenger will certainly be well off by linking him to his already talented midfield and playing him on the right for getting crosses in to his striker up front.
