Davide Di Molfetta – a potential star on the rise for AC Milan and Italy. Born in Sesto San Giovanni (Italy) in 1996 Di Molfetta joined AC Milan as a 10 year old and since then had showed tremendous potential to outshine his fellow academy graduates. He started his footballing adventure at the age of 6 years with the team Salesian Oratory Rondinella where he stayed for three seasons until the transition to Milan in season 2005/2006 .
The 16 year old winger is already a part of Milan’s Primavera team (U19) and takes part in Campionato Nazionale Primavera, Italy’s youth level tournament played by youngster from Serie A and Serie B. Di Molfetta also plays matches for the Allievi Nazionali (U17) team, which is currently being coached by the Milan legend, Filippo Inzaghi.
During the 2011/12 season Di Molfetta was under the National Students I and Division II , in which he was named as the team captain and scored a total of 5 goals in the campaign. Word about the youngster began to spread and his first International call came in October 2011, a double friendly against Slovakia U -16 team. Di Molfetta made his debut in the first match and scored in his second one.
After El Shaarawy’s prominent rise to fame, Davide Di Molfetta could be in line as the next Milan starlet to take Serie A and Europe by a storm in the near future and the first player to shine in the so called new youth policy adopted by AC Milan. It is said that Milan are now focusing on developing their youth rather then spending cash on decorated stars. Talking on the subject, Milan chief Galliani said:
“We have decided to target emerging youngsters, We’ve explained that to the fans and I think they understand.
“We’re investing in young players this January too and we are convinced that we’ll achieve great results.”
Looking closely Di Molfetta is a winger with a great talent and an immense tactical discipline. He can also play as the role of an attacking midfielder and a second striker
Davide Di Molfetta, scored twice in a recently held Italy’s U-17 friendly match against Ternana’s Allievi Nazionali team.
