Manchester United Player Ratings Against Cambridge United – Mata And Fellaini With A Solid Effort

Share

Here are Manchester United player’s ratings for the FA Cup triumph over Cambridge United.

David De Gea – 6.5

The Spaniard had very little to do in the match except when Tom Elliott went through on goal one on one with the United No. 1.

Paddy McNair – 7

McNair thrived at the right back position and gave United the attacking impetus down the right flank, starting the move for Juan Mata’s opener.

Chris Smalling – 6

Quiet game at the back. Cambridge posed little threat going forward.

Jonny Evans – 6

Neat and composed game for the Irishman thanks to the opposition’s weak attacking force.

Marcos Rojo – 7

Scored his first goal for United since joining in the summer. Met Robin van Persie’s outside of the foot cross with a close range header. Needs to work more on his crossing though.

Daley Blind – 6

Self destructive back pass in the early moments put Tom Elliott through on goal. But recovered and composed himself to keep things ticking in midfield.

Wayne Rooney – 6.5

Right of a midfield three isn’t really his favorite position but Rooney was a tireless worker all night. Should have put away that volley when Di Maria put in a delightful cross from the left.

Angel Di Maria – 6.5

Had the beating of the Cambridge right back Richard Tait all evening. Constant menace down the left hand side. That cross for Rooney after sprinting away from the Cambridge defenders on the counter attack was a thing of beauty.

Juan Mata – 7

Did well in his No. 10 role. Scored a goal and linked well with Rooney and Di Maria.

Marouane Fellaini – 7.5

Starred in his forward role to wind back the clock to his Goodison days. Set up Mata’s opener and had a hand in Rojo’s goal. Impressive stuff from the Belgian.

Robin van Persie – 6.5

Posed very little goal threat but set up Marcos Rojo with a delightful cross with the outside of the boot.

Subs:

James Wilson – 7

Scored the third goal of the match and looked impressive in his sub appearance. Should be knocking hard on the door for a starting berth.

Ander Herrera – 6.5

Assist for Wilson’s goal and a composed performance in the latter stages.

Ashley Young – 6

Came on with barely ten minutes left but tested the Cambridge defence with a few crosses.
