According to a report from The Metro, Manchester United are keen on signing Leicester City star, James Maddison.
The Englishman, 22, joined Leicester City from Norwich City last summer and went onto make 36 appearances in the Premier League, scoring seven goals and notching as many assists. He has quickly become one of the hottest properties in the Premier League, with the playmaker also attracting interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City.
The Foxes are keen to hold on to James Maddison but will sell if a club meets their £60million valuation, adds the report. With that in mind, Manchester United must go all out to prise Maddison away from Leicester this summer.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has focused recruiting young, talented and hungrier British players this summer after a disastrous 2018/19 Premier League campaign.
The signings of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka documents the change in the club’s transfer policy post-Sir Alex Ferguson era of signing big names to young talents with hunger and desire to succeed.
Solskjaer hasn’t yet completed his transfer business and remains keen for a couple of new faces. However, the Norwegian did get a blow when super-agent Mino Raiola claimed that his client Paul Pogba wants to leave Old Trafford this summer amidst interest from Real Madrid and Juventus.
The United tactician had planned to make Pogba the club’s vice-captain next season. Pogba was the Red Devils’ top scorer this past term, scoring 16 goals while creating 11 assists in 47 matches across all competitions. There is no doubt that the French international is a world-class midfielder which justifies why Real Madrid and Juventus are trying so hard to sign him.
The new development apparently has spoiled Solskjaer’s plans for next season but United could use the money generated from Pogba’s potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement for the Frenchman. Without any second thoughts, James Maddison would be an ideal fit at Old Trafford.
Maddison has just completed a season in the Premier League but he has managed to grab a lot of attention from some of England’s top-flight clubs.
The 22-year-old, who can be either deployed as an advanced playmaker or as a winger on the left flank, is an excellent passer of the ball, capable of running with the ball at his feet and linking up play.
He has enough pace in his locker to make some driving runs from midfield, which creates space and openings for others around him.
The Under-21 England international is a significant threat from set-pieces and can carve open defences with his perfectly weighted through-balls. He will fit in well at United as he is a significant goal-threat from midfield.
The addition of a player of Maddison’s ilk will undoubtedly add another dimension to United’s attack.

All in all, the English playmaker will be an ideal fit for Solskjaer’s style of football and could turn out to be a massive signing for the Red Devils in their quest for winning the Premier League title next term.
