According to a report in the Daily Express, Ryan Sessegnon has been linked with a move to Manchester United. Sessegnon has also been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, which would be a better move for him and Tottenham Hotspur ideally because he’d be a bit of a luxury at United.
Sessegnon is still very young at 19 but he hasn’t nailed down a position so far. He’s been used at left-back, left wing-back and both wing positions. He hasn’t shown too many signs that he’s going play as a left-back, which is currently being taken up by Luke Shaw.
United need to look at an upgrade over Luke Shaw in the future as he’s a good option for now but the fact that he’s not anywhere close to a national call-up suggests that an upgrade might be needed soon and Sessegnon wouldn’t be one.
United also have a bunch of options on the left-wing who can do a job. Not just players like Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez but also new signing Daniel James and academy graduates like Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be a fantastic guide for Sessegnon as United has a rich tradition of giving youngsters a chance and developing them into superstars. Solskjaer has already shown that he’s ready to give youngsters a chance and the United academy and current first-team is already quite a young squad.
They need to add a few players with the right kind of experience to help these youngsters have the right personalities to bounce off and develop into better players. While United aren’t expected to win the Premier League this season, they’re always expected to at the very least make a step towards that before the league starts.
They also have other priorities in midfield, defence and in the right-wing to have a look at before they can consider buying someone like Sessegnon. In any other era, Sessegnon would be the kind of player that would be a great fit at United but United have more pressing issues.

With not much time left before the Premier League kicks off, Solskjaer will be hoping that he can get a few more signings over the line before the games against Chelsea and Wolves.
They’ve had a fantastic pre-season tour and will be hoping that they can take the positivity from the tour into the 2019/20 season.
