The Daily Mail has reported that Manchester United are interested in making a move for Youri Tielemans. While the young midfielder is contracted to AS Monaco, he is currently on loan at Leicester City and is doing very well for the club.
He’s scored one goal and assisted four more since the move in January, and has proven to be a big hit with the Foxes. That has seen Calciomercato report that Leicester City are keen on a permanent move for the Belgian international, as they see him as a big part of their future.
Just 21 years old, Tielemans has always been an exceptional talent for both Anderlecht and Monaco despite his struggles in the Ligue 1. A midfielder by trade, Tielemans has the talent to play either as a number 10 or as a number 8.
However, it’s as a central midfielder where he flourishes. Creative, good on the ball and very intelligent, Tielemans is more than good enough to play for most of Europe’s top sides. But instead, the young Belgian opted to move to Monaco, which was the right move for his career.
However, given Monaco’s struggles this season, it’s no surprise that Tielemans struggled and that led to the move to Leicester City.
It’s here with the Foxes that the young midfielder has really shown what he could, with his energy and creativity flourishing under both Claude Puel and new boss Brendan Rodgers.
For Manchester United, however, he would be the perfect replacement for Ander Herrera. The 29-year-old is possibly on his way out, with PSG offering him riches and glory in France (Sky Sports).
That is not ideal for Manchester United, as Herrera is a big part of the team under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Replacing him will be a tough job for the new boss but that’s exactly what Tielemans can do. Like Herrera, the Belgian is a tough central midfielder who has averaged a rather surprising 1.3 tackles and 0.9 interceptions per game.
That shows the wide variety of skills that Youri Tielemans has at his disposal and why he would be perfect for Manchester United.

By appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United have taken a step forward but they’ll need reinforcements in the near future and someone like Youri Tielemans would be absolutely perfect for them.
The Belgian has shown his talent in the Premier League and could be just the man the club is looking for.
