According to a report from the Sun, Leicester City are in talks with Ligue 1 side Monaco over a permanent deal for on-loan midfielder Youri Tielemans.
The Belgian made the move to King Power in the January transfer window on a six-month loan deal and after a string of impressive performances, the Foxes wants to keep him permanently.
The report claims that Monaco will demand a fee of around £40million for the Belgian in the summer and Leicester would have to break their current transfer record to acquire the services of the midfielder.
However, Sun also claims that the Foxes will try to decrease at least £16million in a deal for the Belgian by letting go of Adrien Silva, who went the other way in a January deal.
Leicester will have to be quick in their move, with fellow English sides Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both interested in Tielemans for a move in the summer.
Tielemans has scored once and has assisted thrice in 7 games for the Foxes so far this season.
His presence in central midfield combined with the arrival of Brendan Rodgers at the club as the new manager have come in as a breath of fresh air for Leicester fans after an underwhelming time under Claude Puel this season.
The Belgian has provided real balance to the Foxes in the middle of the park and has been highly efficient both in the attack and in the defence.
Tielemans has formed an impressive understanding with Harvey Barnes and James Maddison during his short stay at the club and their partnership can only be a good thing for the Foxes in the coming years.
One of the main reasons why Tielemans is a massive asset to any club is experience despite his age. The Belgian is still only 21 years old but has played a staggering 256 senior club games in three different leagues so far in his career.
Tielemans is the perfect combination between youth and experience and has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the world in a few years’ time and the best way he can do that is by playing in the toughest league in the world – the English Premier League.
