Everton opinion – The Toffees should sell Kevin Mirallas in the summer

According to a report in Liverpool Echo, Everton forward Kevin Mirallas is playing for securing a move to a new club in the summer transfer window.

The Belgian is currently plying his trade on loan at Fiorentina and the Italian club are not interested in exercising the €7m option to permamently sign the on-loan player (h/t Liverpool Echo).

Mirallas hasn’t been a part of the Marco Silva plan ever since the Portuguese was hired last summer. The 31-year-old was sent on loan to Italy, where things haven’t really worked out the way he would have wanted.

That being said, here’s why Everton would be right to let the player go on a permanent basis:

Inconsistent players wouldn’t improve this team

Kevin Mirallas arrived at Everton back in 2012 with a decent reputation. But as it turned out, he could never fulfill his potential at Goodison Park.

The main reason was the inconsistency in his performance levels. If a player does well for two games and then throws in a ordinary performance, he won’t fit into the regular plans of a manager.

For that rationale, amidst all the potential, we saw Mirallas doing well for Everton in patches, but not keeping that up for a good period of time.

In the last two seasons, things have gone downhill for the Belgian. Hence, he was initially sent on loan to Olympiacos in January 2018. After that, a temporary move to Fiorentina was sanctioned ahead of this season.

However, things haven’t gone to plan. The forward has had a mediocre season in Italy, scoring just two goals and providing one assist in 18 appearances. To rub salt to wound, the Serie A side are now not interested in taking the player on a permanent deal (h/t Liverpool Echo).

Conclusion

Therefore, the only solution for Everton is to allow the player to come back to England and open the doors for him to go elsewhere on a permanent basis. This would be good for all the parties to be honest.
