According to a report from the Leicester Mercury, Leicester City are interested in Leyton Orient starlet Dan Happe.
The 20-year-old impressed last season as Leyton Orient gained promotion back to the Football League following two campaigns out of the League. He was a mainstay, making 46 appearances for Ross Embleton’s National League-winning side.
It was his breakthrough campaign in senior football and such notable performances have caught the attention of some clubs, including Leicester City.
But with only one year remaining on Dan Happe’s contract in East London, Orient are resigned to selling one of their last season’s stars. With that in mind, the Foxes must do everything to their powers to land the 20-year-old defender.
Leicester star Harry Maguire has been heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to lure the England international away from King Power Stadium to strengthen his defence.
United conceded a massive 54 league goals in the Premier League last term, missing out on a place in next season’s Champions League as a result.
The Red Devils aren’t the only club chasing Maguire’s signature, however, with cross-town rivals Manchester City also keen to snap him up to replace their departed skipper, Vincent Kompany. Despite the Foxes standing firm in their £90million valuation of Maguire, United are increasingly confident they can strike a deal with the Midlands club.
Since arriving at the King Power Stadium from Hull City in 2017, Maguire has established himself as one of Premier League’s most consistent defenders.
Losing the English defender this summer would be a big blow for Brendan Rodgers and company, so the Leicester boss needs to be prepared and bring in adequate cover in defence ahead of the new campaign.
In Wes Morgan, Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans and Filip Benkovic, Rodgers has decent options in central defence. Even if Morgan and Evans are in their 30s, Benkovic returns from a very promising loan spell at Celtic, while Soyuncu has a full year of Premier League experience.
Add the promising Dan Happe and the Foxes could have a very solid backline next season.

Happe has been likened to a certain Maguire and is viewed as one of the best young prospects of the lower leagues in England.
Standing at 6ft 5in, the 20-year-old is a strong, powerful and aerially dominant defender, extremely handy to have on both ends of the pitch. He is left-footed defender, who is composed on the ball and will bring balance to the Leicester backline.
Leyton are well aware Happe is a wanted man and will look to earn as much as they can by cashing in on their prized asset. Thus, Leicester will need to put forth an enticing offer if they want their man.
