According to a report from Leicester Mercury, Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu has been linked with a number of clubs in his home country, including Fenerbahce.
The Turkey international, 23, joined Leicester City from Bundesliga club SC Freiburg last summer but failed to nail down a spot in the starting lineup. He managed just six appearances in the Premier League last season, as he was behind the likes of Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Wes Morgan in the pecking order.
That has probably seen Caglar Soyuncu attract interest from Turkish clubs, but the Foxes must do everything possible to keep hold of him this summer.
Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire has been linked all summer with a move to Manchester United. He missed training on Monday due to illness, but his absence intensified speculation he will be swapping the King Power Stadium for Old Trafford.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager for Maguire to be the next arrival at the club following the earlier signings of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Red Devils have so far failed to agree on a transfer fee with the Foxes for the England international. And on Thursday the Sun claims United have launched an £80million offer for Maguire, who was interestingly left out of the club’s official squad number video.
Solskjaer is desperate to sign the 26-year-old to bolster his defence and it appears that he could get his man before the transfer window closes.
The problem for Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is that he will have very little time to bring in a replacement should Maguire leave for United. The summer transfer deadline is next week and while Rodgers certainly has earmarked the England international’s replacement, one cannot be 100% sure that the Foxes would be able to sign that player.
That’s why keeping hold of Caglar Soyuncu would be a totally wise decision. Maguire’s potential exit this summer would give Soyuncu a glaring opportunity to nail down his place in Rodgers’ starting XI.
He was out of favour after playing just two times in 2018/19 but one cannot forget the fact that he is very highly-rated in his nation and has the attributes to seamlessly slot into Rodgers’ system.

Soyuncu is a top passer of the ball, composed while making marauding runs through the middle of the park.
He can be reckless at times with his challenges and tackling but that can be ironed out by Rodgers, as eradicating such errors of his game will ensure he shines in the Premier League.
Soyuncu has a high potential which certainly could be unlocked under the watchful eyes of Rodgers. He is a player that absolutely needs to be kept at King Power Stadium next season.
