According to a report from Football Espana, Crystal Palace are in talks to sign midfielder Victor Camarasa from Real Betis.
Victor Camarasa, 25, joined Real Betis from Levante but made only 14 starts in his sole La Liga campaign in Seville. He spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, where he made 32 Premier League appearances. The Spaniard was one of the rare bright sparks for the Bluebirds, scoring five goals in the Premier League.
However, the midfielder failed to keep Cardiff in the Premier League and has now returned to Real Betis, where he is believed to be surplus to requirements. The report adds Betis value Camarasa around €15m, although the player has a €25m release clause.
With just a week left for the English transfer window to slam shut, Crystal Palace must quickly wrap up the deal for Camarasa.
Having lost Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United, Roy Hodgson’s priority will be to keep hold of his star forward, Wilfried Zaha.
Failing to retain the services of Zaha in the same transfer window would be a massive blow for Roy Hodgson and Crystal Palace, as the Ivorian has single-handedly carried the club in the last few seasons.
Zaha is a player that absolutely needs to be kept at Selhurst Park. Not only that, but Hodgson should also add a couple of attacking players after seeing his team struggle for goals last season. That’s why signing Victor Camarasa would make complete sense for the Eagles.
Predominantly a no.10, Camarasa is a versatile player who can operate as a central midfielder or in a midfield three.
In terms of his attributes, the Spaniard is a solid passer of the ball, a fantastic dribbler and is good at holding the ball amidst pressure. He is a good finisher as well. He is comfortable in possession and possesses great technique.
The ex-Levante would bring a touch of guile to the Palace attack, enhancing the quality of their front line and adding vital assists and goals to the team. He is hard-working, tenacious and can press tirelessly when the pressure is on, which is just what Hodgson would want when his team lose possession.

Not to forget, Camarasa is also a set-piece expert and has a knack of striking the ball ferociously from outside the box.
The Spanish midfielder is an exciting player and his successful loan stint with Cardiff erases any doubts whatsoever regarding his adaptability to the Premier League.
Thus, it has to be said that Roy Hodgson’s Palace would bag a massive coup by signing Camarasa. He could turn out to be the difference for the Eagles between finishing in the bottom half of the table and in the top 10.
