According to a report in Sky Sports, Leicester City have been linked with a move for Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake. Leicester are on the verge of losing Harry Maguire, who has been fantastic for them in the last two seasons.
Maguire was Leicester’s player of the year in his first season of the club and was important in helping them move higher up the pitch, win headers in both boxes and bypassing the midfield with his distribution.
Leicester will need to find someone who can do a similar job and there aren’t that many better in the Premier League than Nathan Ake.
Ake was a graduate of the Chelsea academy but never got a real chance to show what he’s all about at Stamford Bridge and was sold to Bournemouth. Eddie Howe’s side have been extremely dependent on Ake since his move as he’s fantastic in the air, quite quick and a very good passer of the ball.
Leicester are looking to building an exciting young side under Brendan Rodgers and Ake would fit the bill perfectly. Brendan Rodgers is a very attacking manager, who emphasizes on playing football with a lot of possession.
It’s been a bit of a surprise that Nathan Ake hasn’t been picked up by another club as his versatility is another factor that makes him such a valuable asset. He can also play as a left-back and central midfielder because he’s simply a very technical and intelligent footballer.
Brendan Rodgers has some fantastic young players like Ben Chilwell, James Maddison, Wilfried Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, Harvey Barnes and Ricardo Pereira.
In a few years, if Leicester can hold onto some of these players, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if they’re making inroads into the top-four of the Premier League or at the very least consistently playing in the Europa League.
Last season, Leicester finished in 9th place and will be aware that they can do far better than that next season and expectations will be a lot higher. Leicester are among a group of clubs along with Wolves, West Ham and Everton who have ambitions to play European football and will be hoping that they can do that this season.

As mentioned earlier, Maguire will be a massive miss for Leicester but if they get Ake, they’ll not have much to worry about.
