Why Crystal Palace should sign Victor Camarasa

According to a report in Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa before the transfer deadline, as they seek to enhance the quality of their squad.

Camarasa, who was on loan at Cardiff City for the duration of the 18/19 season and played well in the Premier League, has three years left in his contract with the Spanish side but is available to make a move back to England this summer. (h/t Daily Mail)

While the focus has been on Palace’s departures this summer, Roy Hodgson is keen on adding more to his squad ahead of the start of the new season. (h/t Daily Mail)

Camarasa played 32 league games last season and impressed in the Cardiff shirt. Currently, he is surplus to requirement at Betis (h/t Daily Mail). Here’s why signing him would be good for Palace:

Palace could do with a Camarasa-esque player

Victor Camarasa is a versatile midfielder, who is chiefly a box-to-box player but can operate in attacking midfield or as a defensive midfielder if required by the team.

The Spaniard scored five goals and assisted four in 32 league appearances for Cardiff last season. It is a decent return for a player in a team that struggled to score many goals.

In terms of attributes, Camarasa is an astute user of the ball. His passing range is very good and he can dribble past people in tight areas. He is also able to find key passes in the final third and can finish off chances when it arrives. He is also a strong contributor off the ball.

If Palace manage to sign him, they could deploy him as a number 10 behind the striker. The 25-year-old’s ability to operate in pockets of space and press from the front would help the team massively.

Conclusion

Thus, it has to be said that Palace can aim to finish in the top-half of the table if they sign Camarasa. The Spaniard has enough qualities in his armoury to be a creative force in this team.
