Leeds United opinion – The Whites should sign Aaron Mooy in the summer

According to a report in Examiner Live, Championship hopefuls Leeds United are one of the teams backed by the bookies to make a move for Huddersfield Town playmaker Aaron Mooy.

The Australian international has been a fantastic player for the Terriers since joining them in the summer of 2016. He was one of the key players who helped the club get promoted to the Premier League.

After that, we have witnessed the 28-year-old showing class in top-flight football and being the main man for Huddersfield.

However, with the Yorkshire-based club now relegated, there is a possibility that the creative midfielder would be looking to stay in the Premier League (h/t Examiner Live).

Out of the potential destinations, fellow Yorkshire club Leeds United, who are gunning to get back to the big league, are one of the clubs backed to sign the Australian (h/t Examiner Live).

Aaron Mooy

Here’s why the Whites should do everything to sign him in the summer window:

Mooy would be an ideal Saiz replacement

Since Samuel Saiz started contributing less and eventually left Elland Road in January, Marcelo Bielsa’s men have struggled in the creative midfield department.

The manager tried playing Pablo Hernandez as one of the attacking central midfielders but that left the team short on quality in the wide areas. As a result, Tyler Roberts has come into the midfield, pushing the Spaniard back to the wide areas.

While that has solved the problem to a smaller extent, the big picture needs to be corrected, especially if they manage to get promoted to the Premier League this season.

Hence, signing Aaron Mooy would be ideal for the Whites. The Australian international is a diminutive midfielder who works hard off the ball and possesses great quality to make use of possession in the right way.

Furthermore, his eye for a key pass is pretty good and it will help Leeds to be more creative in the central midfield area.

Conclusion

All in all, the 28-year-old would fit Leeds’ model and be a star man for them in the coming years. Hence, the club shouldn’t think twice about making an offer for him.
