Leeds United opinion: The Whites should make a move for Ryan Kent

According to reports from the Birmingham Mail, Leeds United are very interested in a move for the Liverpool star Ryan Kent. The report further adds that while Villa are also in the race, the Whites are very keen on adding the young winger to their ranks.

The 22-year-old has done well and spent last season on loan with the Rangers. He flourished in the Premiership, finishing the season with 6 goals and 9 assists to his name, including six and six in the league alone. It shows just how well he’s adapted to a new manager and style of play under Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

However, more importantly, Kent has confidence and directness that few Leeds United stars have. Maybe Jack Clarke and Kemar Roofe replicate that, but other than those two, few others have done and if they have, it hasn’t been at a consistent rate.

It’s a difficult situation but at the same time, it’s high time that Leeds add someone more reliable. Consistency is key when you’re chasing after a Championship title and that has been what the Whites lacked.

They were leading the race for the title till February, which is when Leeds United slipped up. They let it fall right through their hands and had to watch as they not only lost 1st place but also second place with Sheffield United leapfrogging over them.

It didn’t make for great reading and that is not something the club can afford to do again next season. It’s exactly why the club needs someone like Ryan Kent in their ranks and it helps that he’s a young and direct winger.

Instead, it’s his creative nature that Leeds United need more at the moment, with the Whites depending heavily on Pablo Hernandez and Mateusz Klich. While they’ve combined to create 20 goals so far this season, a majority have been created by Hernandez.

Ryan Kent has shown that he is clinical in front of goal, extremely creative in the final third and has flourished in the Scottish Premiership. A league that is notorious for being a very physical league, hence very tough to adjust to.

Yet, Kent walked into the first-team, with only injuries and suspensions stopping him.

Conclusion

Ryan Kent is a very talented star and someone who needs to start playing regular football at a club that really wants him there. That isn’t the case at Liverpool and it should be the case at Leeds United, which is why the Whites have to make a move for the young winger before someone else does.
