Is Leeds United Chasing This Premier League Star A Right Move For The Club And The Player?

Share

Leeds United missed out on making it to the Premier League once again, the club that once made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League have struggled to often make it to the playoff spots in the Championship and seem like they have to do a lot of rebuilding if they are to make a proper run for the top flight in England once again.

A player who seems to be linked with a move to the Yorkshire club is Sebastian Larsson of Sunderland. The Swedish star is currently playing with the national team in Euro 2016 and he could be on the move from the Premier League side as he is deemed to be surplus to requirements for Sam Allardyce as he plans for the upcoming season.

Larsson though is one of the most creative players for the Black Cats and would love to regularly play for a top club; though playing in the Championship when you are a proven top level player might take some convincing to do.

The Swede is extremely versatile and can play in a range of positions ranging from wide left or right to central midfield to even full-back, depending on what the side needs. His delivery from set-pieces is also a major bonus for a side and this quality could make the difference for Leeds, if they can somehow sign him.

The Championship club need to have a lot of top players if they are going to end up in the top six at least, especially with the likes of Derby, who seem set for another good season and could finally make it to the Premier League.

The bigger concern once again for the club would be the fact that there would also be three former Premier League clubs who will be looking to bounce back to the league at the first time of asking. Newcastle and Aston Villa have a number of quality signings, some of whom they should be able to keep this season as well, and challenging them for a spot into the Premier League must be met with quality as well.

The fact that Larsson only played 18 games for Sunderland last season might suggest that he would be willing to move to a club that does give him more playing time and although this signing would be a dream coming true for Leeds United fans, the cold truth is that it would be a miracle if a Premier League player, who still has a lot to offer would move a league down next season.
