Predicted Tottenham Line-up To Face West Ham In Carabao Cup

Tottenham and West Ham will meet in a Carabao Cup encounter on Wednesday, as both clubs appear to be having extremely contrasting fortunes. Spurs are flying high after a 4-1 win over Liverpool while Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is again facing speculation over his future after a 3-0 home loss to newly-promoted Brighton.

Given the current situation, Bilic is likely to play a weakened team at Wembley with the Premier League being a priority. While they will be happy to learn that Harry Kane is likely to be rested, the fact is that Mauricio Pochettino does not lack attacking options capable of destroying the Hammers.

Team News

Harry Kane is expected to be rested for the EFL Cup clash so Fernando Llorente is likely to start. Juan Foyth will be hoping for his second appearance, while Erik Lamela could take a place on the bench after exactly a year out.

Here’s how Spurs could line up against West Ham

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Michel Vorm (GK)

The influential deputy is likely to get a start against West Ham as Pochettino will be inclined to rest Hugo Lloris.

Kyle Walker-Peters (RB)

The youngster has proven to be solid at that position after his namesake Kyle Walker’s departure. Pochettino is likely to deploy him ahead of Davinson Sanchez.

Kyle Walker-Peters

Juan Foyth (CB)

Juan Foyth will be looking for a start after making only one appearance so far. If he starts, he is likely to replace Alderweireld in Spurs’ back line.

Jan Vertonghen (CB)

Despite the other two changes, Vertonghen could retain his usual role since his experience can prove to be handy.

Danny Rose (LB)

After weeks of talks over Rose losing out on his spot to Ben Davies, this will be a good chance for Rose to make a strong comeback, if he gets to start.

Danny Rose

Harry Winks (CM)

Winks will be responsible for guarding the defence, in order to prevent West Ham from making any surprise attacks.

Eric Dier (DM)

Dier continues to be key for Spurs and he will look to link up well with Winks to solidify the defensive midfield partnership.

Moussa Sissoko (RW)

Sissoko should take up a role on the right wing and will be largely responsible for orchestrating attacking runs to trouble West Ham.

Dele Alli and Son Heung-min

Dele Alli (CAM)

Undoubtedly, Alli continues to be important for Spurs up front. His creativity and technique often open up a lot of opportunities for the north London side.

Son Heung-min (LW)

Son will be eager to do well after his previous appearances did not see him make much of an impact. If he starts, he will take up his usual role on the left and will be responsible for supplying the striker with chances.

Fernando Llorente (CF)

With Kane ready to be rested, this should be Llorente’s moment to shine. He did appear in a cameo role recently for Spurs and Pochettino is likely to select him to lead the line.
