Predicted Chelsea Line-up To Face Everton In The Carabao Cup

Chelsea will be hoping to carry on the winning momentum when they host an Everton team bereft of Ronald Koeman in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. Following successive league defeats to Manchester City and Crystal Palace, Antonio Conte’s side beat Watford 4-2 at Stamford Bridge to gain all the confidence they need.

In contrast, Everton’s season has taken a drastic turn for the worse and the 5-2 loss at home to Arsenal on Sunday saw Ronald Koeman get sacked on Monday afternoon. This presents the ideal opportunity for the Blues to secure a win to continue their momentum.

Team News

With the Blues facing trips away to Bournemouth and Rome in the coming week, Antonio Conte is expected to rotate his squad. Youngsters Charly Musonda and Kenedy will hope to start as they did when Chelsea ran out 5-1 winners against Nottingham Forest.

Conte continues to be without N’Golo Kante and Victor Moses while Danny Drinkwater remains sidelined.

Here’s how Chelsea might line up against a struggling Everton side:

Manager: Antonio Conte

Formation: 3-4-3

Willy Caballero (GK)

The deputy goalkeeper will be hoping to start since Conte would want to rest Courtois ahead of some tough fixtures coming up.

Antonio Rudiger (CB)

Rudiger should be expecting to start in place of Azpilicueta, especially after missing out on the victory against Watford.

Antonio Rudiger

Andreas Christensen (CB)

The player proved to be quite influential against Watford and is likely to be handed a start against Everton as well.

Gary Cahill (CB)

Cahill’s experience will certainly come into play as the Blues will be trying to maintain a clean sheet in this game, against a relatively weak Everton side.

Davide Zappacosta (RWB)

The player made a slow start but he will be keen to make a strong impression if he does receive a spot in the starting XI.

Cesc Fabregas (CM)

The midfielder’s progress continues to be marred with ups and downs but his creative side did pop out on certain occasions. If he starts, his experience will prove to be vital.

Cesc Fabregas

Tiemoue Bakayoko (CM)

David Luiz was deployed in this position against Watford, but Conte is likely to give another chance to Bakayoko. The former AS Monaco player is yet to make an impact and against Everton, he might receive a good chance to do so.

Robert Kenedy (LWB)

The young Kenedy is likely to complete the line by slotting in as the left wing-back. This game could be a golden chance for him to show Conte what he is capable of.

Charly Musonda (LW)

Musonda is another youngster who should make the most of this opportunity, if he gets a start. From what we have seen, Musonda can prove to be a lethal threat to Everton’s frail defence.

Willian

Willian (RW)

After receiving not-so-great feedback from fans and critics alike after his infamous cameo against Manchester City, this could be an ideal chance for Willian to redeem himself.

Michy Batshuayi (ST)

Much has been said about how Batshuayi deserves more chances and after his stunning brace against Watford, Conte will consider deploying him up front.
