A stunning victory over Ajax and Tottenham are now in the Champions League final. They will face Liverpool on the 2nd of June in Madrid in the final and it should be a very interesting clash. But until then, Mauricio Pochettino and his men have to concentrate on the final game of the season.
They face Everton and a loss could give rivals Arsenal a chance at finishing in the top four spot. It could also effectively end their hopes of Champions League football, if they don’t win the final. Everton, on the other hand, have nothing to fight for but their pride.
The final Europa League spot has gone to Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Toffees have no chance of making up the four-point difference. It should make for an interesting game and possibly a must-watch for the neutrals.
Harry Kane is still injured (Guardian). Jan Vertonghen recovered to play against Ajax along with Serge Aurier, although the latter didn’t play. But red cards to Heung-Min Son and Juan Foyth does see them get ruled out of the clash. Davinson Sanchez and Harry Winks are out as well.
The Frenchman had a dreadful first half against Ajax but that changed in the second half and he’d be hoping to finish the season well.
With Trippier playing through the second leg with a possible injury, there is a chance that the youngster gets a shout.
Amongst Tottenham’s better players in both halves, the Belgian should see the season out comfortably.
He played with a mask, proving that he wasn’t fully fit but despite that, Vertonghen should start the final game of the league season.
He replaced Rose in the final few minutes of the second leg and with other games on the horizon, Davies should start.
The game changed with the half-time substitution and the former Southampton man was sacrificed. He has a lot to prove and doing it on the final day will help his chances for a place in the Champions League final.
With Moussa Sissoko playing the full 90 minutes against Ajax, the Englishman could find himself on the team-sheet.
His second half was absolutely brilliant and it saw the best of Eriksen, the playmaker.
With Heung-Min Son suspended, the former PSG man will have to start.
The Englishman has struggled to put his best foot forward this season and that really needs to change in the coming weeks.
