Manchester United vs Cardiff City predictions: Manchester United line-up

Manchester United’s chances of finishing in a top four spot is over and thus, they have nothing to look forward to but finishing the season. However, that being said, nowhere does it say that they have to finish the season on a low.

With Cardiff City already confirmed as relegated, this is Solskjaer’s chance to end the season on a high. A win will help confirm 5th place, especially if results elsewhere go their way. Cardiff City, on the other hand, have nothing to lose and that makes them even more dangerous.

The Bluebirds have had a lot of problems this season and have struggled to maintain consistency or score goals. But in the last game of their Premier League journey, they should consider going out with a bang.

Team News

Injuries, injuries, injuries. Manchester United are flooded with that across the board. Jesse Lingard and Eric Bailly are out with injuries. Mason Greenwood could make the last game, with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez finishing up the list.

Barring that, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer barely has a team at his disposal but should have enough to field 11 players.

Probable Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

David De Gea (GK)

Solskjaer has publicly backed the superstar for quite some time now and it’s high time he snaps out of this phase.

Diogo Dalot (RB)

The future of the club, the Portuguese starlet has done well when called upon and should start.

Chris Smalling (CB)

The 29-year-old has been very inconsistent this season and needs to be replaced in the summer. However, he should start.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

A permanent fixture on the Red Devils’ team-sheet, the Swede should start.

Luke Shaw (LB)

A contender for the club’s player of the year, the Englishman is a guaranteed starter.

Fred (CM)

He hasn’t had the best debut season but under Solskjaer, the Brazilian has slowly improved.

Scott McTominay (CM)

One of Manchester United’s best players in recent weeks, the Scottish international should keep his place.

Paul Pogba (CM)

Inconsistency has been the bane of his existence and he needs to change that if he is to be considered as one of the best in his position.

Tahith Chong (RW)

With injuries elsewhere, the academy graduate should get a chance to show just what he can do.

Anthony Martial (LW)

The 23-year-old has struggled to do much with the ball and with a big summer window coming up, this could be the last chance to prove himself.

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
