Predicted Rangers line-up to face St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership

After a 0-0 Scottish Cup stalemate with Kilmarnock last weekend, Rangers welcome St. Johnstone to Ibrox on Saturday.

Rangers are chasing their consecutive league victory and will look to take their chances against a demoralized St. Johnstone side, who come on the back of a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Celtic.

The Gers, however, have fallen six points behind leaders Celtic but Steven Gerrard will be hoping to trim it down to three at the weekend.

Team News

Allan McGregor will serve the first of a two-game ban for violent conduct, for his challenge on Aberdeen’s Lewis Ferguson.

Alfredo Morelos has landed a three-game ban after being sent off in the 4-2 win over Aberdeen last week.

Probable Rangers XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Wes Foderingham (GK)

With McGregor suspended, Foderingham should start between the sticks on Saturday.

James Tavernier (RB)

Tavernier needs to step up and deliver the goods for Rangers against St. Johnstone.

Connor Goldson (CB)

Goldson has been a rock at the back and is one of the first names on Gerrard’s team sheet.

Joe Worrall (CB)

Worrall continues to be inconsistent, yet Gerrard is expected to give him the nod ahead of Katic.

Borna Barisic (LB)

Barisic is likely to come in for Andy Halliday, after the latter played the whole game against Kilmarnock.

Ryan Jack (CDM)

Jack is a very important player for the Gers due to his work rate and energy he brings to the side.

Ryan Jack

Steven Davies (RCM)

Davies is expected to get a chance against St. Johnstone after McCrorie got a run in at Kilmarnock at the weekend.

Scott Arfield (LCM)

Arfield gives a different dimension to Rangers with his movement and creativity in the midfield. He is a certain starter on Saturday.

Daniel Candeias (RW)

It’s high time Candeias steps up and delivers for Gerrard’s team. The Portuguese has to make a mark against St. Johnstone or risk getting dropped.

Ryan Kent

Ryan Kent (LW)

Kent has been brilliant of late for Rangers, frightening defences with his pace and unpredictable movement. He is expected to start in his usual role at left wing.

Kyle Lafferty (ST)

Morelos’ suspension opens the door for Lafferty to get a run in at the weekend’s game. The big Northern Irishman can lead the line all by his own and very well too.
