Manchester United vs Watford predictions: Man United line-up

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dream start as Manchester United boss has hit a speed bump after back to back defeats against Arsenal and Wolves in the Premier League and the FA Cup.

The Red Devils now host an in-form Watford side, who have won three of their last five games and are in a tight battle with Wolves for that 7th spot. United have no margin for error and anything but a win could hurt their chances of a top-four finish.

Team news

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s injury list has increased, with Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Nemanja Matic and Luke Shaw all doubtful for the game at the weekend. Alexis Sanchez is ruled out with a knee injury.

Probable Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

David De Gea (GK)

The Spanish number one has been ever-present in Man United’s squad this season and is expected to continue on Saturday.

Ashley Young (RB)

The veteran has played in both full-back positions this season but should start on the right flank against Watford.

Chris Smalling (CB)

The 29-year-old missed the first 6 games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer due to a foot injury but has since been a solid figure at the back.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

The Swede has been Man United’s best defender by a mile and his partnership with Smalling has been outstanding.

Diogo Dalot (LB)

The Portuguese full-back has done well so far and with Shaw’s injury, he is an ideal replacement.

Nemanja Matic (CDM)

United fans will be hoping that their dominant Serb turns up fit for the game against Watford and his presence in the middle of the park will be crucial for the Red Devils.

Paul Pogba (CM)

The Frenchman has turned his form around since the departure of Jose Mourinho and has been an incredible asset under Solskjaer so far in his tenure.

Ander Herrera (CM)

The 29-year-old has missed the last 3 league games due to a hip injury but is expected to return to the starting line-up after recovering from it during the international break.

Jesse Lingard (LW)

Lingard will have to be at his best against Watford and should take on the responsibility of a senior player, especially in the absence of Rashford and Martial.

Andreas Pereira (RW)

The 23-year-old, after a stunning performance against Southampton, was surprisingly dropped against Arsenal. He should return on the right flank for the weekend’s game.
