Predicted Man United line-up to face Juventus in the Champions League

Manchester United shift their attention to the Champions League as they welcome Italian champions Juventus to Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Star forward Cristiano Ronaldo heads back to Manchester after serving a one-match suspension following a red card against Valencia.

Jose Mourinho’s United were denied a huge win away at Chelsea in almost the last kick of the game on Saturday. Mourinho now has to quickly turn his attention to the Champions League, where his side are second in the group, two points behind leaders Juventus.

Team News

Manchester United will be without Marcos Rojo and Jesse Lingard on Tuesday night, while Marouane Fellaini and Scott McTominay are both doubtful.

Probable Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Jose Mourinho

David De Gea (GK)

David De Gea is United’s undisputed No.1 and will retain his place in the starting XI.

Ashley Young (RB)

Young had the task of keeping Hazard at bay and he did very well, especially in the second half. However, he would be up against Juventus’ stars on Tuesday night and that’s going to be a different test for the Englishman.

Chris Smalling (CB)

Smalling has inarguably been United’s best defender in a porous backline so far this season. He should keep his place in the team but will face a huge test against Ronaldo and co.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

It has been tough for Mourinho to settle down on a strong centre-back partnership and going by Chelsea’s game, he could opt for Lindelof again.

Luke Shaw (LB)

Undoubtedly, he is United’s best performer this season so far. Shaw has been playing with a different swagger and has established himself as the first choice left-back.

Nemanja Matic (CM)

Matic would be tasked with screening the backline and helping the flair players express themselves freely.

Paul Pogba (CM)

Partnering Matic in central midfield would be Pogba, who needs to put in a big performance against his former team. The Frenchman’s performance against Juventus would be a crucial factor.

Marcus Rashford (RW)

Rashford put in a fantastic shift in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea and that could be enough to earn him a place in the starting XI against Juventus ahead of Alexis Sanchez.

Juan Mata

Juan Mata (CAM)

Mata has been the difference-maker for United in the last couple of games. Mourinho has played Mata in the No.10 role and the little Spaniard has delivered the goods.

Anthony Martial (LW)

With three goals in the last two games, Anthony Martial is bubbling with confidence at the moment. He is a certain starter for the game.

Romelu Lukaku (ST)

Lukaku has shown signs of improvement in the last couple of games but Mourinho would expect his big marksman to end his mini-drought by scoring against Juventus.
