A Sky Sports report suggests that Carlo Ancelotti has reached an agreement in principle to become the next Everton manager.
However it is understood that an official announcement would be made only before the Toffees Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash against Leicester, the report added.
Ancelotti, who looks keen to make a quick return to management was sacked by Napoli recently. A run of one win in ten matches in the league had seen the Italian lose his spot at the Naples outfit.
Meanwhile, Premier League side Everton have been without a coach since the departure of Marco Silva. The Portuguese was shown the exit door after a string of poor results that saw Everton face a possible relegation threat.
Silva was subsequently replaced by former Toffees striker Duncan Ferguson as caretaker manager. The Scotsman, meanwhile, has put himself in the frame by earning four points from his first two games as interim boss.
Meanwhile, Ancelotti is not new to England and is someone with a proven track record, having won the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Community Shield during his time at Chelsea from 2009 to 2011.
A top-manager, the Italian has also won the Champions League trophy with 2 different clubs – twice with AC Milan (2002-03, 2006-07), and once with La Liga giants Real Madrid (2013-14).
However, it remains to be seen if the Italian’s arrival would turn the tables for the Toffees, who have won just 5 of their 17 league games so far. Having said that, let us now take a look at how Everton could line-up under the 60-year-old coach.
The Englishman would be the undisputed first-choice keeper under Ancelotti. However, he has kept just 3 clean sheets so far.

The giant of a defender has established himself as a regular within the side. A strong tackler, the Colombian is also a commanding presence in the air.

One of the first names on the team sheet, Digne is pure talent. He has assisted 3 times this season and offers a lot of creativity on the left flank.
The seasoned campaigner gets the ball ticking and is good with his interceptions and tackles in the middle of the pitch.
An attack-minded player, Davies has seen himself getting more chances recently. He has the ability to deliver quick passes and is a good dribbler.
The summer signing has not yet hit top form. He is blessed with intelligent movement and can link up in the final third.
The Brazilian has good pace and energy, and can at times help the side with his defensive contributions. However, he has to improve on his finishing.
He is currently in good form, scoring 5 goals from his last 10 appearances. Also, he possesses a good combination of pace and aerial ability.
Probably one of the few consistent players in the side, Richarlison is Everton’s leading goal-scorer with 6 goals and is an adept finisher.
