Forget Sagna, 3 Possible Ready-made Replacements Arsenal Should Look At In Summer

Share

It will be the end of an era after this season as Arsenal player Bacary Sagna would possibly be leaving the club after being with them for seven long seasons. It is not that Sagna’s quality has decreased or that he is not one of the best right backs in the Premier League at the moment. But Sagna has already made it clear that he wants to leave the London club after this term in search of a mega contract and a hefty pay rise. It is most likely that Sagna would make a move to the French champions PSG, who could satisfy the monetary needs that he making. But Arsenal cannot be stuck with the prospective loss of one of the best in the business and must look to replace him with someone as equally talented. We look at three such players who can fill into the big shoes of Sagna next season onwards.

Sagna

1. Serge Aurier

One of Sagna’s biggest asset was his attacking threat and Toulouse youngster Serge Aurier displays the same trait on the field. The 21 year old has already been directly involved in 11 league goals for his club this season and always keeps the defenders on their toes. He has also made his international debut and been impressive. His performance has improved massively this season and right now he is one of the hottest prospects around. His one year of contract means that he would be available at a very decent price too. If reports are to be believed, he has shown considerable interests in playing under Wenger and would be ready to jump ships. Although not a finished product yet, he is the ideal replacement for Sagna.

2. Seamus Coleman

The Everton right back has been one of the most consistent performers for the club since his transfer from Sligo Rovers in 2009. He is part of a very well oiled Everton machinery, which has done a lot better than expected this season. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has his eyes on this player and given his performance against the Gunners this season in the match where Everton humiliated Arsenal 3-0, Wenger cannot be blamed. He would be a perfect fit for Arsenal in the position vacated by Sagna and his Premier League experience would come in handy. The only concern may be his transfer fees, given the long term contract he has with his current club.

3. Sebastian Jung

The 23 year old Eintracht Frankfurt defender is one of the best right backs at the moment going forward. He is gifted with natural pace and ability to read the game, something that Arsenal would cherish. He has already represented Germany at different levels and is destined for more future glories. If Wenger wants an attacking minded player, then Jung is his man. For him Arsenal would not have to pay too much of an amount either as his transfer fee is likely to be in the region of 8 million Euros.
