Forget Radamel Falcao, Three Strikers Who Could Replace Him At Manchester United Next Season

Share

Manchester United roped in Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco last summer on loan for a £6m deal. The club had the option of converting the loan deal to a permanent move the succeeding summer. Radamel Falcao had just recovered from a career threatening injury, which kept him out of play for the entire 2013/14 season.

Falcao started his new journey on a decent note. He scored few goals at the initial stages of the league. But, unfortunately he was again plagued with injuries during the winter. His performance deteriorated day by day and he was slowly creating anxieties among various corners of the club. Dutch manager, Louis van Gaal slowly demoted him to the reserve bench.

Now, irritation at the both corners flare up as Manchester United’s performance graph is going down. Louis van Gaal has now promoted Wayne Rooney as the front striker, with Radamel Falcao permanently sitting on the bench.

Most recently, Falcao was demoted to the U21 squad, where he made his maiden appearance last week. Current reports, suggest that Radamel Falcao is furious with his role at the club and is desperate to move out in the summer. The club too is not keen to make a permanent move for the underperforming Colombian.

Here are three replacements in striker position for Radamel Falcao, whom Louis van Gaal may sign in next summer.

Edinson Cavani

The Uruguayan superstar had often reciprocated distress over his role in Paris Saint-Germain. He has complained regarding his position and not happy with the circumstances at the French club. Also, it has been reported that, Cavani has issues with teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Cavani has been linked with several Premier League since last summer. Arsenal is one of the frontrunners. But as things are shaping up, any club who wants Cavani have to shell out a huge sum of money. Manchester United reportedly is ready to spend £150 million next summer to refurbish their squad. In the current circumstances, only they can spend lump sum for the Uruguayan forward.

Saido Berahino

Manchester United may look forward to sign a fresh young face in place of Radamel Falcao next summer. West Bromwich Albion’s 21-year-old English forward, Saido Berahino is linked with the Premier League giants. The English forward has so far scored 12 goals in 23 appearances and has caught many eyes this season. Statistically, he has scored almost 3 times more than the Colombian superstar striker at Manchester United. Saido Berhaino was also on the ground to watch Manchester United play Arsenal this Monday. It is rumoured that Louis van Gaal is interested in the forward and may rope in next summer for a handy transfer amount.

Paulo Dyabla

Paulo Dyabla is one of the upcoming stars in European football. The 21-year old Argentine currently plays for Serie A side, Palermo FC. The forward has scored 12 times this season and provided 7 assists. He is one the most exciting talents, which has a potential to become a future star.

Initially, Arsenal were interested in signing the future prospect, but now as reports suggest, Manchester United too are keen on the forward. Palermo is likely to demand £28m to let go their star striker, who is also known as the ‘next Lionel Messi’. It will be interesting to see if Louis van Gaal remains persistent on the Argentine and bring him to Old Trafford next season.
