Three Alternatives For Bas Dost Who Everton Can Target

Everton FC have been dealt a major blow after Dutch striker Bas Dost ruled out a move away from Sporting CP in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old scored 34 goals in 31 League appearances for Sporting last season.

He told AD:

“I’m not waiting for a winter transfer at all. I’m excited at Sporting and I want to be a champion here. I’m not leaving in the winter break.”

This is clearly a big problem for Everton as they had singled out the Dutchman as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku. Ronald Koeman will be extremely disappointed with the news and will now have to look elsewhere for a suitable striker.

Everton find themselves at 16th in the Premier League table with just 8 points in 8 games and are struggling to score goals. The Merseyside club spent big in the summer in the hope of making progress in the League but have already suffered a terrible start to their season.

Let’s take a look a three possible alternatives to Bas Dost that Everton could target in upcoming January transfer window.

Vincent Aboubakar

The 25-year-old Cameroonian striker was previously linked with the Toffees in the summer of 2016. Aboubakar has been pretty reliable in front of goal, having scored 19 goals for Besiktas on loan last season. The FC Porto striker is already on 10 goals this season with two of them coming in the Champions League.

The Cameroon international has recently signed a four-year contract with Porto and is believed to have £45.1m release clause. Although it represents great value in the current market, it remains to be seen if Everton are willing to shell out the money.

Raul Jimenez

The Mexican international striker who was supposed to join West Ham back in 2015 ended up signing for Benfica after turning up late for his medical. Currently in his third season with the Portuguese club, Jimenez 25 goals in 87 appearances for the Portuguese side.

If Everton are willing to pursue the 26-year-old, they might have to shell out £45m. Jimenez is highly rated in the Portuguese League.

Kasper Dolberg

The Danish prodigy took the Eredivisie by storm after scoring 23 goals in his debut season for Ajax FC. The 20-year-old has made 60 appearances for the Dutch side, scoring 26 times. The youngster is highly rated and was a one of the reasons why Ajax made it to the Europa League final last season.

Ronald Koeman would love to nurture a talent like Dolberg, who certainly looks like a potential star in the making.
