Manchester United handed Ronald Koeman’s Everton a 4-0 beating at the Old Trafford, in matchweek 5 of the Premier League, on Sunday.

United opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute, as captain Antonio Valencia unleashed a dream of a half-volley to put his team ahead. Almost 80 minutes later, after a number of chances went begging and facing some ramped up pressure by Everton, the Red Devils did find the second goal, as Henrikh Mkhitaryan slotted in a Romelu Lukaku layoff in the 83rd minute to make it 2-0.

The former Everton marksman wrote his name on the scoresheet a couple minutes later, thumping home from close range, before substitute Anthony Martial won and converted a penalty late on to add gloss to the scoreline.

The win means United are on level on points and goal difference with league leaders Manchester City, but are behind their cross town rivals in alphabetical order.

David De Gea – 8/10

Made a great save to deny Wayne Rooney in the second-half. Pulled off another stunning stop to deny Sandro late in the game. Crucial. 

Antonio Valencia – 8/10

Stunning strike to open the scoring. Was always an outlet down the right and solid at the back as well. A captain’s performance. 

Eric Bailly – 8/10

Bounced back in style after the poor game last weekend. Crunching tackles, crucial blocks, he stood like a rock. Booked late on. 

Phil Jones – 7/10

Going up against his former captain Wayne Rooney, Jones managed him well and kept him fairly under check. 

Ashley Young – 7/10

Starting at left-back, showed the same energy and vigour he did on Tuesday night in the Champions League game.

Marouane Fellaini – 6/10

Offered the legs and the industry in the midfield, but didn’t offer a whole lot going forward. United are going to miss Pogba’s drive and creativity for sure. 

Nemanja Matic – 7/10

Got the assist for the opening goal and controlled the proceedings well in the first half. Held things together under pressure after the break.  

Juan Mata – 6/10

Rattled the post with a free-kick at 1-0. But other than that, he had little impact after a fairly bright start.  

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 7/10

One of the few creative sparks in the team sealed the game off with the second goal, finishing nicely past Jordan Pickford.

Marcus Rashford – 5/10

He struggled. An error-prone display from the youngster and was rightly withdrawn first. 

Romelu Lukaku – 7/10

Missed a sitter in the first-half and another great chance in the second period. But redeemed himself late on with the assist for the second and slotting home the third.  

Substitutes

Jesse Lingard – 6.5/10

Replaced Rashford at the hour mark. Wasted a chance, but added that spark in the attack that seemed to be lacking. Got a crucial touch leading to the third goal. 

Ander Herrera – 6/10

Came on for Mata and shored things up in the middle of the park.  

Anthony Martial – 7/10

Came on for Mkhitaryan with less than five minutes left. Won a penalty and converted it with composure to make it 4-0.
