Fantastic Son Heung-min – The Best And The Worst Rated Tottenham Players From The 5-1 Win vs Stoke

Full Time: Tottenham 5-1 Stoke City

After a series of disappointing results, Mauricio Pochettino’s men put on a show at Wembley this weekend as they put five past Stoke City. The Potters have now let in 13 goals in the last three away games against Spurs and are now just three points off the drop zone. Spurs managed to move into 5th place, but only until Arsenal face Southampton on Sunday.

An own goal by Shawcross gave the hosts a lead to take into at halftime but Spurs came out all guns blazing in the second half, as a brace from Kane and goals from Heung-Min Son and Christian Eriksen sealed the deal. Shawcross gave Stoke City a solitary goal but Pochettino will be more than happy with his side’s performance. Here’s how the Tottenham Players fared against the Potters.

Tottenham Player Ratings

Hugo Lloris (5)

Had a brain freeze as he let Shawcross score late in the game as he missed out on an opportunity to keep a clean sheet on a rather comfortable night.

Kieran Trippier (6)

Did well to hold off the likes of Diouf all game and added width in attack for most of the game.

Eric Dier (6)

Stuck to his task well at the back as he started as a part of a 4-man backline. Was hardly tested by an out of sorts Stoke attack.

Jan Vertonghen (7)

Was outfoxed a couple of times by Choupo-Moting but his experience and understanding of the game made sure that Stoke did not have time or space on the ball in and around the box.

Ben Davies (7)

Was ever-present in the attack on the left flank, picking up an assist for Kane’s first and also did well to keep the likes of Shaqiri quiet all game.

Mousa Dembele (7)

Had a nervous start to the game but settled in well and controlled the tempo, keeping his side on the front foot.

Harry Winks (7)

A confident performance from the youngster, who hardly put a foot wrong. Kept the ball rolling in the middle of the park.

Christian Eriksen (7)

Scored a goal and was involved in the build-up to Kane’s second on a night where he was hard to mark.

Dele Alli (6)

The quietest of the front four for Spurs, Alli still played a role in a couple of goals and will take a lot of positives from this outing.

Heung-Min Son (9)

The man of the match for Spurs on the night, Son created the goal that Shawcross sent into his own net. He picked up the assist for Kane’s second and also found the back of the net in what was a complete performance from the 25-year old, who scored for the third game running.

Harry Kane (7)

Started the game slowly and missed a couple of easy chances in the first-half. But he was lethal in the second, scoring a brace and getting back among the goals. Incidentally, he now has 50 goals for this calendar year.

Substitutes

Moussa Sissoko (6)

The French international came on to replace Winks at the hour mark and did well to keep the opponents honest until the final whistle.

Eric Lamela (6)

Almost found the back of the net and was involved in a couple of slick moves from Spurs, as he looks to get back into the frame of the things at his club.

Fernando Llorente (N/A)

Replaced Son Heung-min in the 86th minute.
