Full Time: West Ham United 1-0 Chelsea

David Moyes has finally announced himself at the top flight once again as his West Ham United side have managed to inflict what was the 4th defeat of the season on Chelsea this weekend. Antonio Conte’s men looked off-colour on their trip to the London Stadium as they were frustrated all game by a disciplined West Ham side.

The Blues failed to create enough chances to breach Adrian’s goal, as a solitary strike from Marko Arnautovic was all that separated the sides in the end. Though it did not lift them out of the relegation zone, West Ham are now surely heading in the right direction.

Here’s how the Hammers’ stars fared on the day:

West Ham Player Ratings

Adrian (7)

Made a couple of decent saves in the second half but had a much more comfortable night outing than what he had at the Etihad.

Pablo Zabaleta (7)

Stuck to his task well against the likes of Zappacosta and Eden Hazard as he frustrated the visitors and kept danger from his flank to a minimum.

Winston Reid (7)

Came back from an injury for this game and showed no signs of nerves as he did well late in the game when Chelsea piled on the pressure.

Angelo Ogbonna (6)

Was the weak link in the backline for the Hammers as he was under pressure from the likes of Bakayoko but stuck in well and got the job done, handing Moyes his first victory.

Aaron Cresswell (7)

Did exceptionally well to snuff out danger early and his release is what that kept West Ham in the game, as he often released the pressure when they needed it the most.

Arthur Masuaku (8)

A constant threat to the Chelsea defenders, Masuaku did not put a foot wrong as his pace and hold up play often frustrated the visitors in their search of an equaliser.

Mark Noble (5)

A couple of decent dribbles from the back to get West Ham into the attack but was often caught out of possession and out of position, not helping his team’s cause.

Pedro Obiang (6)

Hanged around just outside his box, leaving no space for the Chelsea attackers and made a number of interceptions to get his side running into the attack in what was an industrious outing from the midfielder.

Manuel Lanzini (7)

Had to put in a shift at both ends of the field as he added numbers to the midfield. But he was also eager to be involved in attacks.

Marko Arnautovic (8)

A superb first touch and an even better finish to get his side in the lead and his attitude was constantly troubling the Chelsea backline, who found it hard to keep him quiet.

Michail Antonio (8)

Put in the hard yards to impress his manager while his hold up play allowed West Ham to flourish throughout the game.

Substitutes

Diafra Sakho (6)

Replaced Antonio to add some fresh legs and his direct approach almost caught Chelsea out on more than one occasion.

Andre Ayew (5)

Had just one chance to run at the Chelsea backline as he had more defending to do, which he did well to win his side the game.
