Aston Villa left it late against Blackburn Rovers as the game ended 1-1 with both teams sharing the spoils. The Villans trailed to Bradley Dack’s goal in the 76th minute but substitute Conor Hourihane curled in a superb free-kick to level matters.
Steve Bruce will be glad his side were able to come away with a point, as their winless run now extends to 3 games. Blackburn Rovers will be frustrated after conceding such a late goal through a set-piece, but the pressure is definitely high on Steve Bruce.
The Norwegian goalkeeper made a couple of vital saves to keep the Villans in the game.
Hutton’s raids down the right flank posed a massive threat to the Rovers. He was defensively diligent as well.
Tuanzebe looked slightly shaky and fragile at the back but he made a few vital clearances.
The 29-year-old had a solid game and was a massive presence at the back. He won everything that came in his way.
The Welsh international didn’t perform up to the mark and endured a slightly quiet second half.
Elmohamady’s dribbling and constant running were very fruitful for the Villans in the final third. His quick feet and pace gave the Blackburn defenders a tough time.
Jedinak was impressive with his work rate and distribution, although he was often sloppy in possession.
McGinn looked nervy throughout the night and didn’t seem settled on the ball. He picked up a yellow card as well, for a bad tackle.
The 30-year-old played a number of crosses into the box but the Villans were unable to find the back of the net. He showed excellent work rate.
Grealish was once again commanding with his sizzling turns and slick passing on the ball. Everything good that Villa produced came through him.
Abraham looked impressive in his first start for the club. He hasn’t completely settled in yet but looked dangerous at times.
The Ivorian was brought on for the last 20 minutes of the game and kept the Blackburn defenders on their toes.
The Irish midfielder stepped up and saved the day for the Villans with a superb free-kick goal after coming on as a substitute.
Bolasie looked energetic on the ball and caused the opposition all sorts of problems in the little time he had. However, it wasn’t enough to exert his complete dominance on the game.
