Moussa Dembele scored a brace as Celtic beat Aberdeen 3-0

Full Time: Aberdeen 0-3 Celtic

Celtic romped home to a resounding 3-0 win over title challengers Aberdeen, at the Pittdorie Stadium, on Wednesday night.

Dubbed as one of the biggest games of the season, considering that the two teams were level on points coming into the match, Brendan Rodgers’ side showed that they are a class apart, as a goal from Kieran Tierney in the 12th minute and a Moussa Dembele double strike on either side of half-time sealed three points for the Hoops.

With the win, Celtic opened up a three-point gap over the Dons at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, while also extending their remarkable unbeaten run in domestic competitions to 61 games.

Here’s how the Bhoys fared on the night against Aberdeen.

Celtic Player Ratings

Craig Gordon – 6/10

Made two early saves, but wasn’t really troubled after that. His distribution, however, was once again questionable.

Mikael Lustig – 7/10

Was extremely solid at the back, matching Gary Mackay-Steven for pace. Got forward well in support of James Forrest down the right flank.

Nir Bitton – 7/10

Had drawn a lot of ire of late, but put in an assured performance against the Dons. Always composed and used the ball very well.

Dedryck Boyata – 6/10

Solid and steady for most parts of the game, but looked a little weary at times, possibly due to the fact that he hasn’t been rested properly following his return from injury.

Kieran Tierney – 9/10

Just brilliant. Opened the scoring with a belter of a strike from a tight angle, before setting up Dembele for the second goal with a sublime cross. Unstoppable.

Scott Brown – 6.5/10

Wasn’t asked to do a whole lot, given his team’s domination in the attack, but stuck to his task well in the middle of the park.

Stuart Armstrong – 7/10

A much-improved display from the weekend. His passing may have been awry at times, but his set-piece delivery was top-notch. Came close to scoring one himself, from a free-kick, and his delivery played a major part in the third goal.

James Forrest – 7/10

Made a number of good runs down the right-hand side and pestered the Aberdeen defence with his pace and crosses. Denied by Joe Lewis in a one-on-one after the break.

Tom Rogic – 8.5/10

Ability to unlock defences was on full display as he threaded a brilliant ball for Dembele, leading to Tierney’s goal. Caused all sorts of troubles to the Dons, who just didn’t seem to have an answer against him.

Callum McGregor – 6.5/10

Playing on the left-hand side, the 24-year old did his job well without really standing out on the night. Had a couple of harmless shots at goal.

Moussa Dembele – 9/10

Two braces in the space of four days and Moussa Dembele is back. Laid on the ball for Tierney’s opener, before turning in the young left-back’s cross to make it 2-0 before adding another one after the break.

Substitutes

Scott Sinclair – 6/10

Replaced Rogic with less than twenty minutes left. Had a shot saved by the Dons’ custodian.

Jonny Hayes – N/A

Replaced Forrest to come on against his former club in the 77th minute.

Leigh Griffiths – N/A

On for Dembele in the 82nd minute.
