Excellent Lanzini – The Best And The Worst Rated West Ham Players From The 2-1 Win vs Tottenham

Share

Full Time: Tottenham Hotspur 2-3 West Ham United

West Ham United took everyone by surprise as they pulled off a stunning comeback to beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in Carabao Cup. Although they were two goals down at half-time to a dominant Tottenham side, the Hammers quite miraculously turned the situation around to keep their place in the cup.

Slaven Bilic’s men leveled the score with a quick-fire double from Andre Ayew, following which Angelo Ogbonna broke the deadlock by scoring the winner 20 minutes from time, which sent them to the draw for the last eight and perhaps also eased some pressure off the manager.

West Ham United Player Ratings

Adrian – 7.5/10

He produced a brilliant save to deny Dele Alli’s opener in the first half but then his clumsiness costed West Ham those two goals. Besides that, Adrian did his job quite dependably.

Declan Rice – 7/10

Rice was perhaps the only player who looked strong in the first half. However, in the second half, he wasn’t tested much by Spurs attackers.

Angelo Ogbonna – 7/10

Although he did not make much of an impact otherwise, Ogbonna came in extremely handy by giving West Ham the lead in the 70th minute.

Cheikhou Kouyate – 6.5/10

There were a few flashes of brilliance but the player struggled for major parts of the game, especially in set-piece situations.

Sam Byram – 7/10

Bryam seemingly struggled to contain Heung-min Son but besides that, he was quite dependable whenever needed.

Aaron Cresswell – 7.5/10

He was deployed as the left wing-back but Cresswell hardly made any contributions to the attack. However, he was a changed man in the second half and the player had some involvement in all three goals scored.

Mark Noble – 6.5/10

Noble made some costly errors in the midfield but he looked more solid after the break.

Edimilson Fernandes – 6/10

He did perform well in the first half but unlike most of his teammates, Fernandes struggled to keep pace in the second half.

Manuel Lanzini – 9/10

The first half was forgettable for Lanzini but from then on he was unstoppable. Even the heroics of Eric Dier could contain him no more as he burst about with his speed and trickery.

Andre Ayew – 8.5/10

Ayew was invisible in the first half but it was his brace that leveled the game for West Ham, as he scored two sneaky close-range goals.

Andy Carroll – 6/10

Carroll was under Toby Alderweireld’s control throughout the night. He failed to do much even in the second half when the rest of his teammates were exerting pressure.

Subs:

Pedro Obiang – 7/10

The player was brought on after West Ham scored the winner in order to protect the score.

Marko Arnautovic – N/A

The player came on too late to make a notable impact.
