Roma’s Vincenzo Venturino Muteba could be one for the future at Everton

According to claims from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, as translated by Birmingham Live, Everton are keeping close tabs on Italian wonderkid Vincenzo Venturino Muteba, with a view to a potential transfer in the coming days.

However, if the Toffees are really serious about securing the services of the talented teenager, they would need to fend off interest from fellow Premier League side Aston Villa. (h/t Birmingham Live)

Vincenzo Venturino Muteba might not be a name familiar to a lot of the Premier League followers but the 17-year-old starlet has been making waves in his homeland with his consistently impressive displays over the past twelve months.

A youth product of AS Roma, Muteba made his debut for the club’s U-17s back in the 2017-18 season but he really put the foot on the accelerator in the previous campaign and bagged a goal and an assist in 22 appearances, although he couldn’t help his team beat Inter Milan in the final of the Campionato Nazionale last year.

That, however, hasn’t stopped Everton and Aston Villa from pursuing a keen interest in the youngster following his incredible rise at the Italian capital.

Muteba’s dazzling performances last season apparently caught the eyes of the scouts and he might as well earn a coveted move to England in the near future if he continues his development down the right path.

Essentially a right-back by trade, Muteba has showcased the versatility to play on the left-hand side of the backline as well.

The 17-year-old, who is held in high regard by the youth coaches at Roma, has been tipped by many to go on and play at the highest level in Europe, although he is yet to get a taste of senior competitive football.

To put things into perspective, Everton’s links with the promising starlet is unlikely to create a lot of noise but he might prove to be a smart addition to the club’s youth ranks, with a view to making a breakthrough in the first-team in the years to come.

Muteba is still very young and raw and one would hardly expect him to make an immediate impact at Goodison Park even if a move does materialize in January or next summer.

However, honing his skills in English football from a young age should make it easier for the teenage sensation to make the step up to the Premier League in due course of time.

As evident from Marco Silva’s approach, the Spaniard never hesitates to put his trust in youngsters if they are genuinely good enough to play at the highest level and he even handed Tom Davies the captain’s armband on a few occasions last season.

Additionally, deals for Alex Iwobi, Moise Kean and Richarlison in recent times is a clear indication of what Marcel Brands is trying to build at Everton and the acquisition of Muteba as one for the future would definitely be a step in the right direction, as far as the club’s long-term plans are concerned.
