Everton opinion – Toffees should beat Arsenal for Benito Raman

According to a report in Sun, Premier League duo Arsenal and Everton are considering a £13m move for Fortuna Dusseldorf striker Benito Raman.

The Belgium U20 international is one of the few players expected to leave the Bundesliga side, who have financial problems to deal with (h/t Sun).

The 24-year-old is a versatile player who can impact games by playing in various positions across the front-line. He has scored nine goals and supplied three assists in 25 league appearances this season (in a team that has scored 39 goals in 29 games in total).

With an unfortunate situation coming at a wrong time for Fortuna, both Arsenal and Everton are looking to take advantage of that situation and sign the forward in the summer (h/t Sun).

Here’s why the Toffees should beat the Gunners to the signature of this mercurial talent:

Benito Raman

Everton’s need for a goalscorer is immediate

Everton have been one of those teams who possess the ability to create chances, but most of them are not converted into goals. It has been a cliche for some time now that they have struggled to replace their former goalscoring machine, Romelu Lukaku.

Marco Silva has tried playing with either of Cenk Tosun or Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front.

While the former has done nothing of note, the latter is good in running behind and holding the ball up. However, he isn’t clinical enough in front of goal.

Hence, if the Toffees are to close the gap to the league’s top-six, they need more ruthlessness up front. Hence, their need to sign a player of Benito Raman’s quality is immediate and important.

The 24-year-old is a versatile forward who can obviously play as a striker, but also operate on either wing if the team needs him there. The Belgian’s raw pace, along with his ability to dribble past people is something that has terrified many defenders in the Bundesliga.

He is also very lethal in front of goal and always seems to take the correct decision in the final third, which is a very good quality to have as an attacking player.

Conclusion

Everton must look to improve on what they have done this season. If they really aim to become the best of the rest, they have to sign Benito Raman and improve their quality in the final third.
