According to a report in Bristol Post, Bristol City are interested in signing Forest Green Rovers’ attacking midfielder Reece Brown. The Robins are one of the few Championship clubs keeping track of the player who has impressed this season.
The Birmingham City graduate’s contract expires at the end of this campaign. Hence, an expected frenzy to sign him would be in store once the transfer window starts (h/t Bristol Post).
Lee Johnson’s men have been looking to improve their midfield by targeting a few other players as well, including Alex Rodriguez from Motherwell (h/t Football Scotland).
Here’s why they would be right in signing Reece Brown in the upcoming transfer window:
Predominantly an attacking midfielder, Brown is capable of operating on either wing or as a support striker. With 10 goals and 14 assists in 40 League Two appearances, the 23-year-old has shown that he doesn’t lack when it comes to producing the quality in the final third.
He joined Forest Green in the summer of 2017 and has been their main player. The England U20 international possesses good pace to get in behind or take on the fullbacks in the wide areas.
He also doesn’t shy away from dribbling past more than one player and creating space for a shot or a pass towards the goal. The 23-year-old is not bad when it comes to showing physicality as well, which is an important cog in the English game.
All in all, Reece Brown has the propensities to make a positive difference if and when he arrives at Bristol City. The Robins have lacked the quality in attacking midfield at times in this season. The 23-year-old could really help them in that aspect.
