Burnley signing this 24-year-old wing wizard would add some much-needed goals

Why Burnley should go all out for Bristol City winger Niclas Eliasson

According to the Times, Burnley are interested in signing Bristol City star Niclas Eliasson this month.

Niclas Eliasson, 24, who moved to Ashton Gate in 2017, has enjoyed a solid season in the Championship, managing two goals and 10 assists in 22 appearances. He has proven to be a key creative spark for Lee Johnson’s Bristol City side and his assists tally of 10 is the best in the Championship.

With the Swede having an impressive season with Bristol, Burnley must do everything possible to recruit him.

The Clarets have lost their last three Premier League games, resulting into their drop to the 15th place. Burnley’s lack of creativity is something of a concern for Sean Dyche, with not a single player consistent enough to assist Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes upfront.

That clearly showcases the Clarets’ issues and Dyche must address them quickly. Not only goals but they also lack the cutting edge going forward. That’s where Niclas Eliasson could make a difference at Turf Moor.

Predominantly a left-winger, Eliasson is also adept at playing on the right and such versatility should make him a big asset to Burnley. A traditional touchline-hugging winger, he is one of the best crossers of the ball in the Championship, capable of delivering flat balls in the box or high balls for attackers to challenge in the air for.

Given the aerial threat Burnley pose, the 24-year-old would thrive in Dyche’s system.

The Swede is one of those wingers who like to dribble, run the channels, finish off the chances with consistency and also link-up play with other attacking players.

He has already shown his quality to score as well as assist vital goals in the Championship and help others in and around the forward line.

Not only will Eliasson add quality to Burnley’s wide department but also bring stiff competition for Dwight McNeil and Johan Berg Gudmundsson. In the video below, one can see the Swede’s excellent crossing ability and quality to score goals from outside the box.

Verdict

Eliasson must be given a chance by Burnley and by signing him, the Lancashire club would be able to sort one of their most pressing issues with ease. The Swede could have a massive difference to Dyche’s side and it could have turned out to be a shrewd move for them.
