Predicted Everton Line-up To Face Arsenal In The Premier League

Everton were completely distraught in their midweek Europa League game as they fell to a 2-1 loss to Lyon, after picking up just a point against Brighton in their previous league game last weekend. They are back in action this weekend but it is only set to get tougher as they face an Arsenal side that is out of form but capable of picking up all three points from this trip to Goodison Park.

The Gunners are also healing from a 2-1 loss to Watford in the league last weekend and will look to get back to winning ways, but Koeman’s job is now on the line and might push Everton to put in a solid performance.

Team News

Koeman has no new injury issues to worry about. He will be without the services of the likes of Aaron Lennon, Ross Barkley, Yannick Bolasie, Seamus Coleman and Roberto Funes Mori, who are all long-term injury absentees. Morgan Schneiderlin picked up a niggle in the previous game but is expected to be fit for this tie. With not much working at the moment, I expect Koeman to change his 4-2-3-1 system to 3-4-1-2 for this game.

Formation: 3-4-1-2

Manager: Ronald Koeman

GK – Jordan Pickford

The English international has not been consistent this season and will surely be tested by a full-strength Arsenal side this weekend.

CB – Michael Keane

The former Burnley man was expected to be more effective at the back and he will start on the right-hand side of the 3-man backline for Everton.

CB – Phil Jagielka

The veteran has been one of the best defenders for the club this season and Koeman should use him at the heart of the backline for Sunday.

CB – Ashley Williams

The experienced defender has not been at his best this season and will be up against the likes of Mesut Ozil in what could prove to be a tough game.

RWB – Mason Holgate

The youngster has done well in a make-shift role and Koeman should use him at right wing-back instead of Cuco Martina, who has not been effective.

CM – Idrissa Gueye

One of the best players for Everton this season, Gueye will have a huge role to play in the middle of the park if Everton are to take anything away from this game.

CM – Morgan Schneiderlin

The former Manchester United man has failed to establish his dominance in the midfield so far this season and will hope to get the better of the likes of Ramsey and Xhaka when they meet Arsenal.

LWB – Leighton Baines

The experienced English ace has been a constant in the backline for Everton this season but should play in a wing-back role in this crunch game.

CAM – Gylfi Sigurdsson

The Iceland international has not been able to live up to his price tag but has a great chance to turn into a hero in this game against the Gunners.

ST – Wayne Rooney

The record-breaking English attacker has always been effective against the North London outfit and could yet again prove to be the difference between the two clubs that are struggling this season in the league.

ST – Dominic Calvert-Lewin

With Sandro Ramirez being far from impressive, Koeman should stick with the young Calvert-Lewin, alongside Rooney to add creativity and industry to the Everton attack.

Here is how Everton might line up:
