How Would Chelsea Line Up With Danny Drinkwater And Davide Zappacosta In The Team

Chelsea completed relatively late business on the last day of the transfer window, when they completed deals for former- Leicester City player Danny Drinkwater and ex- Torino right back Davide Zappacosta. The moves cost them £35million and £23million respectively – a combined figure of £58million.

Here’s a look at how the team could line up with the two new signings in the mix.

Probably Chelsea Line-up Including Drinkwater And Zappacosta

Formation – 3-4-3

Goalkeeper – Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian is the undisputed first choice goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge, with the team selling Bosnian Asmir Begovic to Bournemouth.

RCB – Cesar Azpilicueta

The Spaniard has grown accustomed to this role under Antonio Conte. He is defensively astute and is positive while going forward as well.

CB – David Luiz

The Brazilian has made a recovery of sorts since his first spell at the club. He is more mature now and takes really good decisions on the pitch. He’s much better at winning tackles and doesn’t make reckless moves anymore.

LCB – Gary Cahill/ Antonio Rudiger

Although Gary Cahill got sent off in the opening fixture for the Blues, he is still their skipper and will be expected to start games. Rudiger, a signing from Roma will also be given plenty of chances to impress the Blues folklore.

Davide Zappacosta

RWB – Victor Moses/ Davide Zappacosta

Nigerian Moses has made the right wing-back role his own, following much impressive performances last term. But now that Zappacosta has arrived at the club, he will be expected to fight the Nigerian for a spot at the right-wing back position.

RCM – N’golo Kante

The French midfielder was undoubtedly one of the main reasons for Chelsea winning the Premier League last season. Prior to that, he also won the league with Leicester, which makes up for quite an impressive C.V.

LCM – Tiemoue Bakayoko/ Cesc Fabregas/ Danny Drinkwater

Chelsea have an embarrassment of riches in midfield, but it’s something they need, in what will be a long and hard season for the Blues as they look to retain their title. Bakayoko and Drinkwater are two box to box machines that can do wonders for the team, whereas Cesc Fabregas is in a class of his own.

LWB – Marcos Alonso

Alonso has made the left wing-back position his own in recent times and recently scored a brace in a 2-1 win over rivals Tottenham in what was a fantastic performance from the Spaniard.

Danny Drinkwater

RAM – Willian/Pedro

Willian and Pedro are two fixed candidates to start behind the striker. Both have proved to be able players in that position for Conte.

LAM – Eden Hazard

The Belgian is currently out injured, but he should be the first choice to start on the left-hand side of the attack.

ST – Alvaro Morata

The Spaniard already has 2 goals in 3 games for the Blues and will look to impress further.
