Predicted Celtic Line-up To Face Anderlecht In The Champions League

Celtic will look to confirm their third-place finish in Group C of the UEFA Champions League, when they take on bottom feeders Anderlecht at the Celtic Park, on Tuesday night.

The Scottish champions have just collected 3 points from 5 games in the group that also has Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, having won against Anderlecht when the two sides met previously. Registering another win against the Belgian outfit will grant them an entry into the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League.

Team News

Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts is ruled out of action for three months, the manager has confirmed. Rodgers also revealed this past weekend that star striker Moussa Dembele and midfielder Nir Bitton will be fit to face Anderlecht. But Anthony Ralston remains a doubt to be involved against the Belgians. Scott Sinclair was subbed off with an ankle problem against Motherwell but is expected to feature on Tuesday.

Here’s how the Bhoys might line up on Tuesday at home:

Manager: Brendan Rodgers

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Craig Gordon (GK)

The veteran shot-stopper is an automatic selection, week in week out. A definite starter on Tuesday.

Mikael Lustig (RB)

The Swedish right-back has been in decent form coming into the game and will look to carry on in the same way against the Belgians too.

Jozo Simunovic (CB)

The Bosnian centre-half was not a part of the starting XI against Motherwell but should return to the setup on Tuesday.

Dedryck Boyata (CB)

The Belgian centre-half should make his 5th appearance of the season in the Champions League when he starts alongside Simunovic in the heart of the defence.

Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele

Kieran Tierney (LB)

A constant presence in the backline for the Hoops, the 20-year old Tierney will look to impact the game at both ends of the pitch.

Scott Brown (CM)

Club captain Scott Brown is an influential presence on the pitch for the Bhoys and should start in the middle of the park once again.

Stuart Armstrong (CM)

Having not featured from the kick-off against Motherwell, Scottish international Stuart Armstrong could be reinstated to the line-up in place of Olivier Ntcham.

James Forrest (RW)

The wide player scored a brilliant brace after coming on as a substitute this past weekend. Should start on the right flank against Anderlecht.

Callum McGregor (CAM)

The midfielder was benched for the weekend’s clash but should return to the line-up in place of Aussie Tom Rogic.

Scott Sinclair (LW)

Has shown signs of coming back to form in the past few games and will look to make a telling contribution in helping his side qualify for the Europa League.

Odsonne Edouard (ST)

Scored a stunning hat-trick over the weekend and Rodgers might just look to back the youngster up on the big occasion, after that kind of performance.
