Costa Hits The Mark: The Best And The Worst Rated Chelsea Players In Their 2-0 Win Over Scunthorpe:

Share

Chelsea made a winning start and avoided a slipup against lower league Scunthorpe in the FA Cup third round fixture. The Blues started brightly and it was Diego Costa who scored the first goal before Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored his first goal for the club and made it a safe 2-0 score line.

The Blues did give Scunthorpe a few chances but overall deserved to go through, they avoided a replay and we look back at the game and rate the players from Chelsea.

Asmir Begovic – 6/10

Had a few nervous moments but did alright with Courtois getting a rest.

Branislav Ivanovic – 6/10

Ivanovic didn’t have to do much and had a pretty easy game down the right side for Chelsea.

Kurt Zouma – 7/10

An assured display at the back by the French youngster and stood up well to the prowess of Scunthorpe.

Gary Cahill – 6/10

Cahill didn’t really have a great game but he did enough to get the clean sheet and avoid any problems in the defence.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 6/10

Playing with a fractured jaw, Cesar did all the right things for Chelsea down the left but didn’t really set the world on fire and didn’t need to either.

Cesc Fabregas – 8/10

Fabregas was at his best against Scunthorpe; he was pinging balls around and starting attacks thanks to his vision, probably his best game in the Chelsea colours this season.

Ramires – 7/10

The midfielder did perform his duties well for the team but could have given a penalty away but was lucky not to be penalised.

Willian – 6/10

Didn’t really do much in the game and had a poor showing when it came to corners, this was one of his poorest games for Chelsea this season.

Oscar – 6/10

Oscar was bright at the start for Chelsea but then was replaced by Loftus-Cheek in the second half. He could have scored a goal early on but saw his side just go wide.

Pedro – 6/10

Pedro had chances to score a goal himself but seemed a bit off and faded away at the start of the second half.

Diego Costa – 7/10

Costa got an early goal to help the nerves and was at his best, even involved in a bit of a bust up, as expected.

Substitutes

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – 8/10

The youngster could have started this game but did well when he was brought on in the start of the second half and capped a brilliant performance with the second goal for Chelsea.

Kenedy – 6/10

Nothing too great from the Brazilian as he came on to replace Pedro in the 70th minute.

Bertrand Traore – 6/10

The impressive youngster got a chance to show what he could do as he replaced Costa in the second half.
