Predicted Burnley Line-up To Face Leicester City In The Premier League

Burnley will look to continue their excellent start to the Premier League season, when they take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, on Saturday,

The Clarets occupy 6th place in the league table with 25 points after 14 rounds of games, ahead of last season’s runners-up Tottenham Hotspur, indicating the kind of start and the form that Sean Dyche’s men are in. They recorded an important 2-1 away at Bournemouth in the midweek game and the manager will be hoping that his side continue their rise with another win over Claude Puel’s Foxes.

Team News

Midfielder Steven Defour is a big doubt for the game against Leicester due to a knee injury, while defensive mainstay Matthew Lowton too is likely to be unavailable as well, along with Dean Marney. Summer signing Jonathan Walters and club captain Tom Heaton are definite absentees for the Clarets.

Here’s how they might line up at the King Power on Saturday:

Manager: Sean Dyche

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Nick Pope (GK)

The Englishman has been a revelation since having replaced injured captain Heaton between the sticks. Will look to keep the Foxes out and help his team to three points.

Phil Bardsley (RB)

With Matthew Lowton a doubt for the game, seasoned campaigner Phil Bardsley is likely to retain his spot at right-back over the weekend.

Nick Pope

James Tarkowski (CB)

The Englishman has been another solid performer week in week out for the Clarets and should feature from the get-go on Saturday.

Ben Mee (CB)

Alongside Tarkowski, it should be his usual defensive partner Ben Mee. Will have a task on his hands to keep Jamie Vardy under wraps.

Stephen Ward (LB)

The Republic of Ireland international is a key member of the Clarets squad and should continue at left-back ahead of Charlie Taylor.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (RM)

On the right-hand side of the midfield, Icelandic international Johann Berg Gudmundsson should make his 14th league appearance of the season.

Ashley Westwood (CM)

With Defour a doubt for the clash, we might get to see Ashley Westwood be handed a rare start in the middle of the park.

Jack Cork

Jack Cork (CM)

The summer signing from Swansea has grown into a vital cog in the Burnley engine room. A guaranteed starter week in week out.

Robbie Brady (LM)

The Irishman will be high on confidence, having scored a goal against the Cherries in the midweek. Should keep his place on the left flank.

Jeff Hendrick (SS)

The 25-year old has impressed in the role behind the main striker. Having scored two and assisted one so far, he will want to add more to his tally.

Chris Wood (ST)

Leading the line for the Clarets should be club-record signing Chris Wood. The New Zealand international scored the opening goal against Bournemouth – his fourth in the Premier League. Will want to prove a point against his former club Leicester.
