Chelsea signing 16-year-old Ilaix Moriba would be a massive boost in the future

According to reports by the Express, Chelsea are very keen on the signing of 16-year-Old Barcelona prodigy Ilaix Moriba.

Chelsea’s system under Maurizio Sarri has come under question over the last few weeks. In the opening games of the season, there was an actual change in Chelsea’s style of play. But over the last few weeks, it’s like watching one of Antonio Conte’s sides again just with a much shakier defence.

They were able to display some slick movement, quick attacking and impeccable precision in their passing but what has gradually happened is that Sarri’s system hasn’t been grasped by the players as yet and like we saw at Liverpool and Manchester City over the last few years, it’s not possible to take over as a manager and immediately implement a new philosophy.

While it is bound to take its time, Chelsea aren’t a side who allow a new manager all the time in the world. As seen from the reigns of Andre Villas-Boas and Carlo Ancelotti, this could be one of Europe’s most stressful jobs because of the insecurity surrounding the position.

Overall though, it does look like a lot has changed at Chelsea over the last couple of seasons. If Sarri is given the time and money he needs, he is destined to get the results because of the sheer quality of players available within the ranks.

One change which can be noticed is the club’s willingness to take risks with young players. The signing of Christian Pulisic for £58m from Borussia Dortmund can be seen as a positive move for the future while their efforts to keep Callum Hudson-Odoi have been public for a while now.

Keeping up with this trend, the Express are reporting that Chelsea are looking to sign up 16-year-old prodigy Ilaix Moriba from Barcelona with the all-clear for the deal having come from Roman himself.

He is a midfielder born in 2003 who turned 16 just a few days ago. He is a central player who makes his presence felt with some aggressive play. He dominates in the air because of his height while it is nearly impossible to shrug the ball off him because of his inhuman strength.

He resembles Paul Pogba of Manchester United in stature which is why Daily Mail are claiming that he has been labelled ‘the next Paul Pogba’. His ability is unquestionable as he has come through the famous La Masia academy.

He has the potential to be a huge player for Chelsea in the future given his potential and age. This could be a very shrewd piece of business which could go under the radar now, but will certainly be making massive headlines a few years into the future.
