Goncalo Guedes

Premier League Champions Chelsea are planning to sign Benfica’s wonder kid Goncalo Guedes, according to reports.  Coming from the Benfica academy, Guedes made his debut for the senior team of Benfica in the October of last year. Since then, he has made his spot permanent in Benfica;s first XI. His eye-catching performance also won him the Breakthrough player of the year award in the Portuguese Segunda Liga last year.

He is also being sought after by Arsenal, but it is understood that the scouts of Chelsea have been monitoring the player since his rise to the senior team of Benfica. Recently, Guedes signed a new contract with the Portuguese club in which a €60m (£42m) release clause was inserted as the Eagles does not want a talent like him to leave for a low price.

It is uncertain when Chelsea can complete the deal for the player, but next summer is more feasible as the youngster might not fit into the squad of Chelsea. That may even be dependent on the consistency of his performance.
